Jimmy Clausen in bar fight?
Check link for story--

but I must ask what is the star QB doing out at a bar at 2:30 AM? Don't college teams have some kind of curfew?

Weis has enough problems to deal with, without hearing this03-nutkick

seriously? when you're a big name QB one of the main things that you should keep foremost in your mind is - don't get into bar fights. nothing good will come of it.

RE: Jimmy Clausen in bar fight?
Supposedly, someone jawed with Clausen, who shoved the guy. The guy swung and hit Clausen in the eye.

Clausen reportedly has an orbital bone fracture. The eye is currently swollen shut. He may not play at all against Stanford.

Additionally, starting running back Armando Allen broke two fingers in the UConn game.

Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. He is out for the Stanford game.

Starting TE Kyle Rudolph is still out with an injury as well.

Remember that five star recruit and backup QB Dayne Crist tore his MCL against Washington State.

Will ND score any points at all against Stanford?

ESPN is reporting that it was an irate fan, and Clausen was with his parents at the time, so I doubt he can really be blamed in this.

The fan got some problems. The loss was not due to Clausen. He played well. The fan needs to go pick a fight with the ND defense. He won't cause he probably would get his butt whooped.

Wow... someone send this on to Brian Kelly (to go with the Weis interview talking about the threats his family has received)! The fan base in South Bend has lost it!

The sad part is that this "fan" was probably gloating on how great weiss and Clausen were at the start of the season. and those cincy fans that think kelly walks on water would also be throwing him under the bus the minute he loses games. Is part of our sport culture sure there are more at ND , but thats why they pay more there

Woah... comparing UC fans complaining about a loss is nothing compared to punching out a player. It would take a lot to get UC fans to turn on Kelly, as he has taken the program to a place it never has been before.

As I said everything is wonderful now, so hard to imagine that happening. Look at FSU and Bowden as a prime example. No one is immune and if you think that wouldnt happen at UC you are fooling yourself. Maybe not punching but I guarantee you that if Kelly has a string of 4-6 wins seasons the calls for his firing would start from many of the ones that are now saying he should stay at UC over all offers.

RE: Jimmy Clausen in bar fight?
If he goes 8-4 at UC he won't get run out of town either, Cuban. Remember Bob Huggins? Outside of a few grumblings over the 2nd round flameouts, he had a TON of support from the fan base. UC fans are much more loyal than the average fan base.

All that being said, I've never said that BK shouldn't get the most money he can. I do the same thing in my line of work, I can't fault someone else for doing the same. To compare the UC fan base in any way to ND is totally apples to oranges, however.

Cincinnati sports fans are a very loyal bunch. Ever been to a Reds home or spring training game? I went to two games at Riverfront when I was a little kid, a spring training game in Bradenton a few years ago, and a game at Great American this past August.

RE: Jimmy Clausen in bar fight?
Gotta love it. A kid can't spend a little time with his family without an irate fan causing some problems. I'm guessing he's one of the fans the verbally attacted Weis and his family. Sh1t happens like this in big time football. And Steelers fans are equally as guilty of this. Its sad and I wished it didn't happen. But it is what it is.

RE: Jimmy Clausen in bar fight?
This was not an irate fan. This was not someone verbally attacking Charlie Weis.

Jimmy Clausen was supposedly out in a bar with his brothers at 2:30 a.m. He and another guy got into an argument, allegedly over a girl. Clausen pushed the guy, the guy took a swing.

Nothing too unusual here. Weis said in his press conference today that Clausen should be able to play on Saturday.

The obital bone fracture rumor appears to have been incorrect.

Again, the question that no one seems to want to answer--what is the star QB doing out IN A BAR at 2:30 AM????? Doesn't Weis have any kind of curfew during football season?

RE: Jimmy Clausen in bar fight?
My guesses:

1) He was out drinking with his brothers (he is 22), and

2) Apparently not.

RE: Jimmy Clausen in bar fight?
Whatever the case. Casey should have listened to Pat White when he was talking about the decisions you make that effect the way in which you are perceived by the public. He really could have gotten a lot of benefit from that speech. As a public figure, everything you do is in the spotlight of national attention, and any perceived weakness is magnified all out of proportion...

But Pat White is a rare individual, who's actions really show what a nice person he is. The media attention he got for being the only player on either team to thank the soldiers for their service to the nation November 8th in New England is a prime example of White's personality. No other player did anything like that...
