They certainly are taking Notre Dame at 7-5, even with a 1-3 finish in that case.

What would be a huge dissapointment is if a 11-1 UC or 10-2 Pitt end up in the Tire Bowl in Charlotte due to 1 BCS selection from the league and Notre Dame or WVU in the Gator.

If we lose the Gator, don't we go to the SUN? Did the rule change again?

1 year of travelling does not make a fan base. Notre Dame and WVU both have significantly larger fan bases on top of it...

It's not just 1 year of travelling. UC traveled a lot of folks to the Rust Bucket Bowl a couple of years agao as well. Since joining the Big East conference, UC fans support at bowls has improved.

No - for the purposes of the bids between the Gator and the Sun, the BE and ND are looked at as one unit (2/4 to Big 12, 2/4 to BE or ND). The Sun has to take a Big 12 team this year.

All I got to say is go Stanford. Play the last Gator and tell them to go shovel it. I wonder how many people gonna watch to see medicore SEC vs. the B10 next year for yet another B10 beat down in the new Gator. BE 2010 bowl lineup can't come here fast enough.

I was at the rust bucket known as Legion Field. Yes, UC travelled pretty good to that game, but once again, nowhere close to what Notre Dame or WVU travel.

WVU does have a decided advantage in their traveling fanbase. West Virginia's job market has sucked for so long, there is a fairly good distribution of West Virginians in every state in the nation...

Whatever bowl UCONN ends up this year I hope we will bring fans. Based on the way this season is turning out, I think we will. The only issue is the INTL bowl and its passport requirement.

USF has almost no chance to get the Gator Bowl, even if we win out.

Unless that ACC opponent is FSU again I don't see USF fans getting up to play North Carolina. Clemson or VPI maybe....but that is about it. Just being realistic. Even if USF brought 17K, it wouldn't compare to the tens of thousands a NotreDame or WVU would bring. USF is still developing a fanbase, which most SEC schools have grown for over 80 years. To be fair, most ACC schools don't travel well either....so its a little disengenious for the Gator Bowl to hold the BigEast accountable for not selling tickets and not do the same for ACC. Does he NOT remember the last couple ACC championship games...or even his own bowl game?

ND and WV.

Bowl games are such a sham.......taking an 8-4 WVA team over a 10 or 11 win Cincy or Pitt team shouldn't even be a consideration in reality. Just shows it's about the money not about "deserving".....this whole system sucks.

Yes a very sad reality coming from our states. I guess making us more attractive to bowls is one of the few advantages it entails.

See my post in another thread about Jimmy Clausen and Armando Allen being injured.

I wouldn't worry about a team with those injuries, among others, and a fired coach beating Stanford in Palo Alto.

Terry, is the Clausen injury the one from the sucker punch he took early Sunday morning or something else? I guess Jimmy got decked right in the eye by some a-hole leaving an establishment where he was having dinner with his parents.

True. But Ohio's economy can't come close to comparison when you look at the West Virginia economy. It's even more frustrating when you examine the West Virginia economy over the last 50 years. When I was a kid, we used to say 'thank God for Mississippi.' They kept us from being dead last in the nation. Not anymore...

CA is going broke if that helps.

But California was a separate nation, it would still have the 7th largest economy in the world, even though it is in the toilet. But it's been mismanaged for so long, that it's in deep doo doo, and Arnold didn't help matters any. It's gone steadily downhill under his watch...
