So let me get this right - I kill a gay guy in cold blood and get the death sentence for the murder, what are they going to do, reincarnate me and kill me again?

They would if they could but the people who advocate such laws are good and gentle people who do not believe in the death penalty. The "hate crime" portion of your sentence will be having to listen to speeches of liberal politicians 23 hours a day for 30 years. You'll beg for death.

It's easy enough to increase the punishment for a hate crime. Just add a second life sentence on. When looking at a punishment of at most life in prison, people will still kill for greed, lust, envy, etc., but when faced with the possibility of harsh back to back life sentences, they will at least stop killing out of hate.

You know how lawyers specialize in insanity defenses? I can see a new legal industry rising offering "Traditional Murder Defenses".

"There was no hate in the heart of my client when he stabbed the victim 47 times. He just likes seeing blood run. You can't give him the cruel and unusual two life terms.""

I understand that the second life sentence is really a ***** to serve. There is such a feeling of deja vu. Not to mention that it's hard to know when it's over.

For me I would rather be killed by someone who hates me rather than in some random killing. At least some "thought" would have gone into the "hate" crime vice just killing the next person who came by. But the people who advocate punishment for hate crimes are not part of the thinking crowd.

Anyone think that maybe, just maybe this hate crime bill is cruel and unusual punishment. It takes Institutional 'hate' to a new level.

Absolutely. Hate crime legislation is supported by people who hate on a visceral level. And it is just another part of their effort to dispose of their enemies.
