RE: Bears trade rumor
I wouldn't even call it a rumor...it's pure speculation because the bears need a top WR...no evidence whatsoever that the bills and bears are even talking. Something has to keep sports radio and the blogs going for the day and TO to the bears just happens to be the topic today.

RE: Bears trade rumor
Think long and hard about what? Chemistry is overrated. If he comes cheap, no reason not to see what he can do. You can always cut him if it doesn't work out. The guy is one of the best WR's of all time. It's not like he's Plaxico Burress, Vick or some other criminal, he just has a big ego.

He's on a one year contract and if he got traded he'd be in a situation where he has to prove himself. It's a safe bet he'd be on his best behavior to get a bigger deal at the end of the year. Low Risk, High Reward here.

Don't think there is much of a chance at all of it happening, but I don't see how it doesn't work out for the Bears if he does go there.

RE: Bears trade rumor
Chemistry is not overrated, different sport but look at the Cubs clubhouse from this year as an example.

Would I be happy with him in a Bears uni? Yes, he's a playmaker and another weapon for Cutler which will only help the team. His ego has seemed to be turned down a bit in Buffalo. Not sure if a big media market is an ideal place for the guy though.

I'd love to see him back in San Fran where Singletary can lay into him when he gets out of line. That would make for an interesting confrontation.

I have no doubt about what he brings as far as production. The man is amazing. I don't know you guys may be right. I do think Chicago would be a different place. I think the market is a lot different too.

I stopped reading here. Look no further than the 2009 Chicago Cubs for proof of why you're wrong.

Oh my.. you really think that's why they lost. You're more intelligent then that. Plenty of teams with bad guys who didn't get along have won before.

Not at all, they just sucked for 3/4 of the season. Have a second baseman playing SS, no secondbaseman, no catcher, no bullpen, an incompetent manager, **** for LF, and RF. That's why they lost. But There is no other person that can ruin a clubhouse more than the great Milton Bradley

Anyways..back to football talk

I hope they don't trade for him. The Bears do not have a strong enough leader to keep Owens in check. Cutler is flaky to begin with. Maybe Olin Kruetz could beat the crap out of him to keep him in line but I just feel if things are going well and Owens is getting the ball, all is good but if things go south, Look out.

If things go South you cut the guy. It's a one year contract and he's getting older, he doesn't really have a choice but to behave if he wants someone to sign him next year.

+1. He's been fine in Buffalo so far. There was one press conference where the media was pushing his buttons, trying to get him to go off, and he just kept saying that he goes with the plays that are called. And it is a fact that the Buffalo coaching staff is flat out terrible so for him to not say anything was pretty incredible. TO is in a contract year and really has no room to mess around. I would expect that he's hoping to lock up a multi-year deal after this season and he will have 0 chance of doing so if he creates problems.
