Obama's approval ratings up 6%
Comments?

President Barack Obama's approval ratings are starting to rise after declining ever since his inauguration, new poll figures show as the country's mood begins to brighten. But concerns about the economy, health care and war persist, and support for the war in Afghanistan is falling.
An Associated Press-GfK poll says 56 percent of those surveyed in the past week approve of Obama's job performance, up from 50 percent in September. It's the first time since he took office in January that his rating has gone up.

RE: Obama's approval ratings up 6%
The only reason I bring this up is because every time his approval ratings dipped, it was all over the board. They go up and nothing....

Just wanted to see what everyone thinks of this. I actually first heard of this on Fox Radio News.

Curious.

I'm not sure why. I suppose there are blips in the economy that have people optimistic, but w/ high unemployment, this surprises me.

It does seem as if the heated exchanges have eased up since 9/12. Not sure if that's connected (people feel less stressed in general?) But, I do think this is a calm before the storm.

Being it was "all over the board", you shouldn't have any problem pointing to a few post where his approval rating was a topic for discussion as your post is? Since it has been only going down since January, there should be plenty to choose from.

RE: Obama's approval ratings up 6%
It's got to be a mistake. Statistically speaking, the pollsters are bound to eventually call a disproportionately higher number of loons than normal people. How can anyone on the left possibly be happy with Obama when he hasn't done anything substantive and failed to follow up on his major campaign promises? And you know the people on the right will give him poor marks no matter what he does.

I'm at work so I don't have all day to search this site but here are the first three I could find Sum. I'm amazed you are actually trying to say his dipping approval ratings weren't discussed here.

OK, I just don't remember seeing them. You think that's impossible? amazed? I remember seeing some charts and some posts but not really remember it being the topic of discussion, as you have shown otherwise.

Pity for losing out on the Olympics, and the big, mean media like SNL making fun of him for being a do-nothing prez, maybe?

I see, the AP poll from 1st thru 5th shown at RCP. Its older than Gallup and Ras listed for reference.

also, sample is Adults only(not Likely voters) and the Sample is 43 - D, 32 - R and 5 - I

for whatever that is worth.

Many polls over sample Democrats. A better question might be, if you could vote again would you vote for John McCain or Obama?

One robin doesn't make a spring. Let's see if this is a trend.

My guess is that there are those who think the recent stock market surge is a sign that the economy is coming back. If unemployment continues to rise, they will change their minds at some point.

Yeah, but as long as unemployment isn't rising as fast as it was, it means the recession is over. Don't you watch the news? 03-lmfao

So does that mean that when things start to tank again, it will be the Obama depression?

Notice I said when not if. That was intentional.

I guess I'm skeptical simply because I can't see any logical reason. What has happened that would cause people suddenly to feel better?

The Dow is up, but that's not a major part of most people's lives, and the other things going on are all pretty negative.
