RE: RANK THE BEAST AFTER WEEK 5
As I said early in the year, this is a new offense different from what UC and Rutgers are used to seeing from USF. It used to be we didnt have speed and our QB wouldnt throw deep because of it and questionable arm. As BJ has shown in past two wekks USF will and can go deep. That will stretch the field and prevent the DBs from crowding the line as they have done past couple of years. We also have two guys that didnt play vs Cuse that are fast quick backs that if they catch a short pass or find a crease on a blitz they will take it deep downfield.
I know UC will get its share of big plays in the game but so will USF and thats something we have lacked in past two years vs the Bearcats and they could bring the house without fearing getting beat deep.
We will find out October 15th but if the Bearcat fans are looking at the past years as examples of how they can play USF theyll be in for a rude awakening.

past years do not matter.....even if the styles were the same, the players are different. We are expecting a tough game and could very well lose this one.....
Speaking of the past, I have said that we've won 3 in a row and law of averages says you can't win eveytime so that worries me as well...in other words, you are "due".....

Well, you could've said that about Rutgers and Miami (OH) as well - we have 3+ year winning streaks on both of them that were extended this season. You could also throw Syracuse into that mix as well, if we win this year.

True CD...but I think USF is head and shoulders better than either of those teams.......actually, I did say that about RU too! Glad I was wrong!!!!!!!

You forgot WVU's basketball team. Anyone coached by Huggy should be able to handle this year's Cards...

2. USF - The Freshman QB is probably going to cost them a game sometime this season.
3 Pitt - Has the talent to win the conference, but until they play both halves of the same game, they belong here or lower.
4. UConn - Solid team, will play a role in determining the eventual Conference Champs.
5A. - WVU - Could win the conference or lose them all. If they play the game they had against Colorado against any BE team, they probably lose. Clean up the turnovers and you are right there in the conference race.
5B. - Rutgers - Will go as far as their QB takes them. Savage is going to be a good one, but like Daniels, inexperience will probably cost them a game or two. Without Savage, a lack of talent will cost them more.
7. Syracuse - Improving. Will bite somebody this year. WVU could lose against them if they turn the ball over this week. The Dome is becoming a tough place to play again.
8. Louisville - There is talent on this team, but the execution and depth will keep you from going far.
I think a lot hinges on whether Curtis Young is back for the USF game. He is our best defensive player and pass rusher by far. With Young, UC can get pressure on the quarterback easily with a four man rush but without him, the pass rush is much more inconsistent. I like our defense against Daniels rushing the ball because our safeties and outside linebackers are incredibly fast. I really think he is going to have to pass the ball to put points up on UC. UC has been pretty weak against the dink and dunk stuff across the middle the past few weeks. It might be the result of a vanilla defense or maybe our inside linebackers just aren't very good. Regardless should be a great game and it sucks we have to wait two weeks for it.
No problem, BJ Daniels can hurt people with both his legs and arms. Dude has a rocket launcher for an arm. If one thing is clear it is that 1) He is an outstanding running qb, and 2) He can throw the long ball. Someone said he will cost us a game. i don't see it. If anything he will help us win an extra game. Remember he is not a true freshman, but a RS Freshman, who played during his true freshman year (he was granted a RS after getting hurt a few weeks in), and also before Grothe went down. He won't cost us any games.

True, teams will have to respect BJ's big time arm throwing to burners like Carlton Mitchell and the rest of our WRs. The 85 yard TD pass he threw to Mitchell against Cuse was a thing of beauty.

Well I don't think UC has given up a long pass the entire year so I guess we will see.

I predicted that Daniels would cost you a game sometime this season. He is still new enough, that teams haven't seen enough to gameplan for him. The kid is going to be terrific, but he still doesn't have a lot of experience. The defenses in this league are good enough that sombody will find a scheme to stop him.
