RE: Newsweek criticizes Obama
The real problem is that he told leftists that he was a leftist and centrists that he was a centrist, in order to win the election.

There are no consequences in a political campaign, particularly when the media are marching lock-step behind you.

But he can't move his agenda forward without somebody figuring out that he lied to them. And most people don't take kindly to being lied to.

I don't know how he fixes it. I really don't.

With any luck he doesn't fix it. Should he somehow fix it we are all screwed!

I would expect that is one option under consideration. I don't know if they can pull it off, though. I don't know how Americans would react. A generation ago, I did know. They wouldn't be able to pull it off. But today, I'm not so sure.

RE: Newsweek criticizes Obama
"Members of Obama's own party know who Obama is not; they still sometimes wonder who he really is. In Washington, the appearance of uncertainty is taken as weakness—especially on Capitol Hill, where a president is only as revered as he is feared. Being the cool, convivial late-night-guest in chief won't cut it with Congress, an institution impervious to charm (especially the charm of a president with wavering poll numbers). Members of both parties are taking Obama's measure with their defiant and sometimes hostile response to his desires on health care. Never much of a legislator (and not long a senator), Obama underestimated the complexity of enacting a major "reform" bill. Letting Congress try to write it on its own was an awful idea."

Choo Choo! Here comes the Health Care Train Wreck coming down the tracks. Public Option in the House runs head on into a diluted "something" in the Senate after Reconcilation is tried and fails.

After the Train Wreck the Democrats will tearing each other apart, just in time for 2010 elections.

Funny how NOTHING has been introduced in either the House or Senate that resembles what Obama told the Joint Session of Congress that he wanted.

So Congress could be ignoring him already. Congress should be more afraid of the voters than afraid of Obama.

Fineman hit the nail on the head; the more Obama is on TV the more his message is diluted and the more opportunities he gives his opponents to speak out against him. If Obama would shut his pie hole, us folks on the right would have nothing to criticize.

RE: Newsweek criticizes Obama
I see Newsweek is breaking with tradition here. Usually their go to man for Obama is this guy: http://www.newsweek.com/id/216264

I stopped getting that magazine this year. After their new "change" following the election, they've turned into one giant liberal propaganda weekly.

Huh. And I thought the real problem was that he was a pretty-boy know-nothing, who'd never accomplished anything of substance.

That too.
I think they are related.

You're right. I should have said if Obama would shut his pie hole he'd give us less opportunities to counter or criticize what he said.
