Obama headed to Copeehagen for Olympic bid
Obama heading to Copenhagen for Chicago Olympic bid

..... Chicago 2016 will be a Tony Soprano production. I fully expect Rahm Emmanuel to resign as Obama's Chief of Staff and run the Olympics. He will be handling the ca$h. He will be the bag man on the point. We will have over runs on the over runs.

Yeah, obviously more important than the wars we're fighting.

well if so, then I may finally get to go to an Olympics..... though I better start saving right now to afford a single day pass to just one event.

And this is no slam dunk. The IOC may like Obama as as persona, as an idea, as a figure, but as the world has seen they don't need to respect him, and as a result I would not be surprised one iota if this goes to Rio.

Special limited edition. Good for sales. IOC will have a tough time passing it up.

Chicago Olympic Organizing Committee should be paying 100% for this trip.

Normally I would be all for America landing things such as an Olympics, but I just can't get behind all of those corrupt "friends of Obama" Chicago thugs getting rich off of this. Hope he "fails".

Quote:Chicago Is Getting the Olympics [Ramesh Ponnuru]

Some people seem to think that the president is taking time away from more important things to go to Copenhagen to lobby for Chicago to get the 2016 games. They're wrong. He is taking time away from more important things to go get the credit for bringing the Olympics to Chicago. Does anyone seriously believe that the president would take a quick trip to Copenhagen with the possibility of coming back empty-handed? If the president is going, it's because he knows that Chicago has already won. He's going.

RE: Obama headed to Copeehagen for Olympic bid
The only experience I have with the Olympics is in Atlanta. Being a teenager in the city it was exciting to see the variety of people converging on the city. I was even interviewed by a Nordic TV station concerning the bombing.

The Olympics coming to Chicago would be more relative to LA's '84 Olympics. Chicago and LA are already established international cities, while the '96 Olympics practically made Atlanta get into step with the potential it had/has. It also benefited the entire SE USA with events hosted all over the area and hotels sold out 2-3 hours away from Atlanta. Atlanta re-purposed many venues into Turner Field, dorms at universities, etc. and Chicago doesn't need these things.

It can be a money making venture (with no public funds used), but the IOC and Chicago can't want it to be another Beijing. That just isn't practical, or the American way. I just hope Chicago's plan isn't too big and doesn't put the city into (more) debt. They have practically everything needed for the event already, just shine up some places.

Doocy just asked in light of Obama talking to Gen. McChrystal only once, how many time has he talked directly to Mayor Daley?

The priorities of an incompetent.

I kinda hope Chicago gets it. To "seal the deal" you know there will be money passed under the table, because that is just how they do business up there in Chicago.

It will be just a matter of time before bribes are discovered and then some more Obama cronies go to Jail.

It seems as though not all Chicagoans are unified on whether they want it or not.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local...7717.story

I doubt the the IOC will actually care about this opposition as long as the City makes all the promises it wants. I don't care either way as long as I don't have to pay for it.

Mexico announced they won't be sending any athletes to Chicago if they get the Olympics because any Mexican who can run, jump or swim is already here.

Incompetency is something you know very well. As for who he has talked to more? Who cares? Just because he hasn't talked to one as much as the other doesn't mean that one is a higher priority.
