I can't let this guy be a superintendent

This guy is not our Minister of Education and should have no authority to establish such a rule. If there is anything in the world that I would draw the line at, this would be it my friends.

I don't think this is that bad an idea. I think we are going to have to go that way in some manner.

IMO this is nowhere near the worst 100 ideas of the Obama administration.

My problem is wondering where its going to stop. It will eventually go into a one curriculum nation, which means a system that is only based on tests and not aptitudes.

BS. We've always had Summer Vacation for as long as I can remember. It's sufficed. If it isn't anymore, start looking at other reasons. You know, like piss poor parenting or piss poor teachers.

Our children in the hands of the Obama loving union teachers for an extra 3 months a year. No potential problems here.

You mean this is an opportunity to use their basic laziness against them? So then there is hope for us as they are unwilling to work hard to defeat us. Yeah us!

Teachers I like. Indoctrinators I'm not too keen on. Also not too keen on union folk.

The majority aren't indoctrinators, in fact it is a minute few. I also don't think that there are that many teachers active within their unions. Believe me I come from a teaching family and none give two sh*ts about NCEA or anything else like that.

I don't know where you live (NC it seems) but here in the Tidewater VA area, if you are not in the union you are ostracized. VA is a right to work state but once you get the job they can make you feel miserable.

That's horrible. What you speak of is like the rest of Canada (I grew up in Quebec which was totally different).

It's a free country. Think what you want. Just check political campaign contributions. How many bucks did the UAW give to the R's? Or the NEA? Or any other union you can think of? Maybe the taxpayers, who support all of this government largess, should form a union. But that would probably de declared undemocratic.

RE: I can't let this guy be a superintendent
As a youth minister I have some questions. First of all, on Wednesday nights when we have church and the majority of my kids actually come ready to learn about what we are talking about in the class, will they not be able to come anymore because they don't have enough time? Also, if schools are open on the weekend what does that mean for Sunday worship services. Along those same lines, summer vacation is the best time for church camps, mission trips, and various other summer activities; does the fact that they are in school and only have a 4 week window automatically take away any potential mission trips in lieu of the "necessary family vacation"?

I understand that he wants us to copy a japan style education system but it won't work. We don't historically share the same mentality of the japanese. They are extremely traditional and your spot in the world is decided when you test early on in your career. They accept that fact and their main objective is to work on their career from that point until retirement.

We are the type of people that encourage you to find your own way in life compared to your interests. We need an educational system that allows you to do that, which we have now (even though we need improvement) and believe me more time in school won't help us out.
