This is why I can't stand government....
...and think it should be as limited as possible! 03-banghead

Quote:---Middleville woman threatened with fines for watching neighbors' kids---

MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - A West Michigan woman says the state is threatening her with fines and possibly jail time for babysitting her neighbors' children.

Lisa Snyder of Middleville says her neighborhood school bus stop is right in front of her home. It arrives after her neighbors need to be at work, so she watches three of their children for 15-40 minutes until the bus comes.

The Department of Human Services received a complaint that Snyder was operating an illegal child care home. DHS contacted Snyder and told her to get licensed, stop watching her neighbors' kids, or face the consequences.

"It's ridiculous." says Snyder. "We are friends helping friends!" She added that she accepts no money for babysitting.

Mindy Rose, who leaves her 5-year-old with Snyder, agrees. "She's a friend... I trust her." ---MORE AT SOURCE---

Did you read the comments afterward? Unbelievable. "It's just life, get used to it."

What's worse is the busybody, unable to mind their own business person who called the state to complain.

I wish she would just openly refuse to obey this stupid law and dare them to fine her...then...if they fined her...simply refuse to pay the fine. I would love to see a judge squirm on the bench trying to justify jailing this woman for doing NOTHING but being a good neighbor.

You can be damn sure that the snitch was someone who has jumped through the states hoops and bowed down to them to get a licence to operate. I swear...I would MAKE this person face me in court so I could show the world this coward.

Sorry, I'm more mad at the gov't bureaucrat who hides behind the defense of "we must enforce the law."

BS! This law is general enough that you are choosing to interpret it this way. And if that's the way you're going to do things, you should be instantly dismissed from your position, and denied any further employment at the state level.

We don't need civil servants taking it on themselves to make it difficult to live.

Yes...It is obvious that this bureaucrat is a mindless minion of the state that does very little to protect children and must do this stuff to attempt of justify their job.
