Denying my children "socialization"
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090917/ap_o..._charged_2
By homeschooling, I am obviously denying my children the proper socialization they need. How will I ever recreate the valuable interactions they'll be missing, like this one, in affluent suburban Chicago? (and we all know how smart suburban Chicago residents are.)
Quote:FOX LAKE, Ill. – A northern Illinois teacher faces felony charges after allegedly giving two teenage girls marijuana, alcohol and prescription drugs in exchange for work around her home. Kym Krocza was arrested Tuesday on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She is free on bond.
Lake County authorities said the girls attend Grant High School in Fox Lake, where the 41-year-old Krocza teaches algebra and calculus. She's been suspended from the school.
Police said Krocza met the girls in her neighborhood before they started attending Grant High and approached them about helping her with laundry and cleaning.
In exchange, she allegedly gave them pot, alcohol and Zoloft, an antidepressant.
I can only wonder what the chemistry teachers pay for babysitting!

Isolated case, things happen. But as far as your family do what you want.

You could find an article like this about any profession in the US, but it's just highly unfortunate people whose profession is dealing with adolescents would exercise such poor judgement.

If you were talking about me, you don't know ****. I grew up in a lower middle class neighborhood in a city of mostly(but not completely) low to middle class families. My school wes pretty well diversified.
As for homeschooling, why not send them to a Christian school? You guys all indicate to being wealthy so cost should not be a problem. As we all know, you are a highly religous man so that would only make sense. Btw, don't forget to teach them Creationism and telling them Darwin was a nutcase.

Oh man Torch, when we Home Schooled, my kids were never without a ton of activities to do outside the home - - Zoo, Aquarium, Parks, Museums, and friends over almost 24/7/365.
We made it fun to learn and they are better off for it now.
They are already working out how they are going to Home School their own children and they are basing on how we worked with them.
Homeschoolers don't have to be Shut-In's like invalids, they can enjoy a full day at the Zoo, spend the night and hit the other landmarks the next day, all part of the Course Work.
Just make it fun and the rest will work its self out.
