RE: White House: "Silent Majorty" support President on Health Care
Boy when you put it that way............... but I remember in my classes and they had accurate presidential polls with a sample of 700 people. I guess if it's totally random it will work out, but I get your point.

My ass. Not with 1000. What, 20 people from each state? Out of those 20, are we determining what counties will be polled? BS. I could give you a poll that could show you 90% think Obama should be nominated for life. ...and hit most of the states, if that's the criteria.
Sorry, I don't trust WaPo and I DAMN sure don't trust a poll of 1000 f'n people.
When polls sample substantially more than that, they only do so because of political objections about the sample size - they don't do it to increase accuracy. I doubt that you would find the results to be more than 3% different if you sampled 100,000. What could sway the results substantially are changing how the questions are phrased or asking the same question +/- one day. I take Mach's side with regard to the statistics.
edit: I take the side Mach was on before he took up your side...

Oh all these little Sweethearts are going to BE REAL SILENT come 2010 and ESPECIALLY 2012 when the Grand Father Barack gets tossed out on his flat ass.
Let them support all they want and they will be amongst the Jobless in this Country by the end of next year and the end of 2012.
If they are the Rats that are willing to Sink with the Ship, then let us pray them well tidings as they ascend to the depths of the deep deep deep dark cold waters.

Yeeah. That's when we find ourselves in the midst of some crisis, and the great leader insists he can't leave office. See Honduras. Only he'll surround himself w/ enough of his militia, that he won't be ousted so easily as Zelaya. He'll also tell the world to keep acknowledging him as the rightful "ruler" of these US.

I didn't take his side. I think he's talking about regional differences. 55 percent of the people support it. Now you may not find that in a certain region which I think he was talking about.

So you're saying all dynamics, throughout the country, are essentially exactly the same? That the South polls just as the North and West? That people in North Dakota poll the same way people poll in West Virginia?
Sorry, there are just too many damn dynamics to make a 1000-person poll anywhere near accurate. I also don't trust the source any more than I trust an ACORN agency to be lawful.

I do know how to take care of myself, and if I err, I figure I'll learn a lesson from that. Given how far the populace has tumbled from being self-sufficient, I'd say that the wider audience could use some of those same lessons. They do NOT need a government that promises to protect them from anything that might be "hard".
Well, either Coyote is now reading my posts, or there was something in the air that crossed the entire country.

Well then just go without insurance(both would have those "lunkheads") just don't go to the emergency room and have everyone else pay for you when you have some accident since you can take care of yourself, you can treat yourself.

Why can't I buy insurance across state lines, Robert? If I need a surgeon, why does he have to carry millions in liability, Robert? Why are there so many government regulations in a contractual agreement between myself and my insurance company, Robert? Why is the free market NOT allowed to actually work, Robert?
Why? Control. The government wants control of YOU. ...and you're all the willing to relinquish it to them. If this BS passes, and Republicans take over both houses and the Presidency again, I don't want to hear a f'n peep out of you.

No poll can ever be accurate to Rebs standard. Even if you called every single person in every county in the US it still wouldn't be accurate. There are some that still don't have phones. Some will go tell you to **** yourself(Rebs?) even though they do have an opinion on the question. THen there are some who just lie.

No, that would suffice. Can we do that? I.e. have a referendum on whether or not the GDamn corrupt government should take complete control of the healthcare industry? ....oh, and I do want citizenship proven at the voting booth.
I'll go with that. It's unconstitutional as hell for them to take control, but what the hell. There's a way to do it, it's called the amendment process. Wonder why you libs don't want to venture that route?

1. Without knowing why it is not allowed now(there could be a very good reason), I think it should be. 2. He need INSURANCE because if he ***** up, he will be sued. If some doctor ****** up on one of your relatives(hope it doesn't happen), do you want someone to tell you how much your relative is worth. THat is what you are asking for-"rationing". I thought you didn't like rationing? 3. THere are so many because it is for your safety. There will be more to come. 4. I am for competition but what you want will be like the wild west.

No way in HELL should they need as much as they carry. There's a reason doctors are leaving in droves and heading to states like Florida with Tort reform laws. You'll have them move to other countries.

Hey buddy, NO F'N THANK YOU. I don't NEED the FEDERAL government acting as my f'n nanny. I'm not a lib.

No, I want what has made this country the greatest, most prosperous, and most envied country on the face of the Earth, Free-Market Capitalism. Doctors are swimming to f'n Cuba to treat patients. They're coming here.

When your poll results start nearing a 50/50 split, the 3% margin of error becomes significant. At that point an increase of sample size is recommended.
The wording of the questions is more potent than the mathematics. I think it is Peter Yen's "The Art of Asking Questions" that used to be the recommended study. I'm sure that's changed over the years.
