You really think tOSU fans were disappointed Michigan lost to Toledo and Applachian State?
Me rooting againstt Temple in my living room has 0 outcome on the game, so I don't understand the "you have to root for your conference" thing. Why? I hate Temple. Me wanting them to lose will have no bearing on whether or not they lose, so why does it matter what my personal feelings and loyalties are?

The funny thing is, yeah, it sucks and it's embarrassing to lose to an FCS team, but Nova is a top top FCS team. They'd beat plenty of teams in FBS. No excuses, it's a terrible loss, but we didn't exactly lose to the equivalent of a HS team...
And this is something I will never understand. If you're going to schedule a FCS team, make it a bad one like Indiana State. Playing Villanova is lose/lose.
It's a damn rivalry game. Is that so hard to understand?

How, exactly, does that help your team? I would say schedule one of the best FCS teams. If you lose to a bottom feeder FCS team, your program will be ridiculed 10X worse. I would think facing a good FCS team does a little more to prepare your team for conference play. I'd prefer not to play FCS teams at all.
I really get no joy in watching another MAC team suffer an embarrassing loss, as it damages the MAC brand. But I know that who I cheer for makes no difference in the outcome. But, being honest, the thought of karma and certain obnoxious fans (all our schools have them - but not all of them post on message boards) does cross my mind after an embarrassing losses.

Kent doesn't...but they don't have any fans at all.
I don't know how you can fault Temple for playing Villanova. It's a rivalry, as JHG points out. Temple's OOC schedule should ALWAYS include Nova. I like the idea of the Mayor's Cup - keep it coming.
As for the overall FCS debate, the games make sense. Frankly, I wouldn't schedule a powerhouse, but I wouldn't schedule a bottom feeder, either. A good, middle-of-the-road team provides a solid early season tuneup, in addition to a home game and, of course, a likely home win.

You mean the school that outdrew BG last night? So BG has less than none? Wow. That's harsh criticism of your fan base, Dr.!

Word is they told people there was a golf demonstration going on. Then they locked them in the stadium.

Signed,
The Rest of the MAC
Please don't say the rest of the MAC. I am certainly not included in your pathetic show of sportsmanship to a conference mate. I don't care if some Temple fans have been arrogant on here.
Same here... I always root for the MAC team in non-conference games. If most MAC team went 3-1 or 4-0 in non conference games it would rise the whole conference.

I disagree, I think Temple Scheduling the Cats was brilliant. They are in te same city, the schools are rivals, and they got nearly 30K people to the game! This is how IAA games should be scheduled, local schools who are rivals in other sports.
I which UB had smAlbany rather than Gardner Webb. Sure it would be a tougher game but it would mean something to the fans.

Temple never gets a break, out played Vill, 5 turnovers were a killer.
Vill QB was pretty good
Didn't CM lose to No Dakato St & still win MAC,
Temple not out of anything yet
Tailgaiting was great last night with Phillies playing across street
must have been 60,000 tailgating last night
I always root for the MAC in OOC games. Its the only real way to improve your conference's standing relative to others. BG and Kent's wins were great, Temple's and Ball States losses were disappointing to say the least. A shut out is incredibly difficult to achieve so kudos to Kent on that. I'm incredibly relieved and happy BG adjusted and controlled a supposedly very good Troy team last night. This might be a special year for BG but I don't want to get overconfident again like I did last year after BG beat Pitt.
I agree Temple should play Villanova every year. Its a natural rivalry and I wish more teams were willing to play opponents that might hurt their record. Sounds like turnovers told the story in that game.
Ball State will have to get some production in their passing game or M.Lewis is going to have a tough time.
