If you think it through, you realize that it really cannot work otherwise.
Want to disagree?
Fine. Explain how it can work otherwise.

Exactly. It cannot work WITHOUT rationing. All of these dope-smoking Libs at DU need to understand how much they'll have to change their daily lives just to be covered by the socialized healthcare system. They better think twice before thinking they can keep doing the same **** over and over.

meanwhile, the pagan religion otherwise known as "Progressivism" is organizing "Vigils" for Socialized Health Care.

they are praying to their god to deliver them health rationing, like those in Britain suffer with.

I could actually live with what UK has for health care. For me personally, the quality of my health care would get worse, and the cost of my health care would increase. I wouldn't like it, but I could cope. Every UK resident I've discussed this with (and I've discussed it with a bunch of them) says that whatever we do, don't copy their system. But it's still better than some other alternatives on the table.
I would probably leave rather than try to live with Canadian-style health care. Of course, Canada seems to be in the process of rejecting "Canadian-style" health care, so maybe the best way to avoid "Canadian-style" health care would be to move to Canada.

RE: Of course death panels are ridiculous
I believe ya'll are overstating the case. It's not the terminally ill that are being denied treatment, only those that are deemed to be near death (a much smaller subset of the terminally ill). The LCP does not appear to be a mandatory program, imposed by government fiat. The objection being raised by the letter writers is not to the general idea of the LCP, just its application.
Quote:He added: “What they are trying to do is stop people being overtreated as they are dying.
“It is a very laudable idea. But the concern is that it is tick box medicine that stops people thinking.”
There is no evidence presented in the article to suggest that the either the LCP or the problems with its application is a result of any form of rationing. Below is a link to the Marie Curie Cancer Care website (I'm assuming this is the same foundation referenced in the article). You will have a hard time convincing me that a foundation which provides free nurses to allow cancer patients to die in the comfort and dignity of their own homes in any way constitutes a death panel.

Rather, it appears to be a result of sloppy doctors becoming overly reliant on a tool. It could well be that this is more likely to occur in a socialized medicine setting, but it will take more than this article to convince me of some nefarious plot.
