GAME WEEK!!!!
Lets end all this mindless, pointless drivel that has plagued this place for months. Let's talk about actual games!

Make this thread a place to discuss your matchups this week. Let us know about your team, their opponent, the game, etc.

I'll start it off.

Troy faces Bowling Green State University Thursday night. Kickoff is at 6 PM CST. No TV unless you live in Ohio, but most Trojan fans that aren't lucky enough to be going are going to watch it online. We've had some success with that, and some pain with it as well. Kudos to ULM for their great picture and broadcast last year. FIU, well, apparently the band isn't the only place they cut the budget. Two years ago they hired a kid with Parkinson's and handed him a $2 webcam they got off ebay and told him to point it at the field.

BGSU has had coaching changes in the off season. One storyline you might hear about is that our QB's old coach at Richmond is on the staff at BGSU now. The Trojans are a slight favorite in this game. I'm excited to see how the offense performs in the opener. There are a few new faces that will get some playing time or be a starter.

Also, our defense should be ready to go. We'll be without Bear Woods for this game and the Florida game since he has to sit out 2 games. But the front seven should be good. Hopefully we'll see lots of pressure on their QB to give our young secondary time to adjust. After losing Sr. Jorrick Calvin due to being ineligible, it will be a real test for them early on. I just hope they get some good experience and get those early season jitters out of their system. And the whole team will have an extra couple of days to get ready for Florida the following week.

RE: GAME WEEK!!!!
WKU at Tennessee. Oh this will be quick:

WKU is a big question mark at the moment - more questions than answers. Can we compete? can we even score? Will our undersized D-line be able to withstand the UT hogs up front? Can our secondary be able to cover their speed and experience? Will our starting QB be able to handle the onslaught of the UT defensive line? Can our O-line play up to their potential? Can we keep it respectable?

UT is going to be an anomaly as well. What is UT going to be like with Kiffin as head coach? Will they be overlooking WKU? Will they fall victim to their own press clippings?

I know the game is televised on SEC-TV and I hope to watch it.

RE: GAME WEEK!!!!
FAU vs Nebraska

FAU should have the offense to put up points on Nebraska, and the defense has matured enough in the spring and camp to keep it close for 2 quarters or so. A pass rush has finally developed from a few, and we have found a RB to replace Charless Pierre and Edegecomb.

Nebraska is ranked #22 in the nation, but is featureing a rookie QB. They also recently lost thier #2 RB by being kicked off the team for breaking team rules. Still should be able to move the ball. They have a MONSTER in Suh who will get pressure on the owls.

Prediciton,

Rusty Smith and his Co. of WR/TE/FB haven enough gas to score, but the D just isnt there yet. FAU keeps it close and gets some points in 1st half, but the horses just arent there and Nebraska pulls away in the late 3rd, 4th quarter.

Score.

Nebraska 41
FAU-21

RE: GAME WEEK!!!!
its about time, can we stop all the SB / C-USA merger threads now?

As for my prediction... not good with the number guessing, but I say 70% chance Owls lose to Nebraska... I just hope we get that lucky 30% and pull off an upset, what a great day in owl country it would be.

RE: GAME WEEK!!!!
MT is at Clemson 5pm Central Time (6pm Eastern). The game is on ESPN360. One Troy fan said he saw the game was on ESPNews. I'm still trying to verify that.

Clemson has 2 of the fastest players in the nation on offense, and MT's defense struggled against the SBC last year.

The main theme of the game will be Rick Stockstill and several other of our coaches going back to where they spent a good chunk of their lives. Stockstill coached at Clemson for 12 years.

Also, the Tony Franklin era at MT begins. Fans are anxious to see the "basketball on grass" that we were promised under former OC G.A. Mangus, now QB coach for Spurrier at South Carolina.

We at MT wish the rest of the SBC best of luck in their inaugural game for the 2009 season. Hope WKU busts that big arnge !

That's exactly what you're gonna get from Franklin! Personally, I love this type of offense. It really helps out late in the game when you need a quick score.

RE: GAME WEEK!!!!
My prognostications for week one.
.
Ball State 38 North Texas 24
Troy 41 Bowling Green 21
.
Tennessee 35 WKU 17
Clemson 31 Middle Tenn 21
Texas 49 UL-Monroe 13
Nebraska 38 FAU 21
ULL 56 Southern 21
Arkansas State 49 MVSU 10
.
Of course W's across the board would be nice but hopefully the teams overmatched stay close and no L's or escapes against the 2 FCS teams.

You are being awfully generous to My Cajuns. Remember, we lost our QB, Running Back, and Star receiver.. Lot's of doubts on offense at this point. Southern has a very athletic QB that runs and throws well. If our defense can slow him down, we should pull out a squeaker.
I think Ragins Cajuns 23, Jaquars 21. We better win this one, because
the next 3 on tap are Kansas State, Nebraska, & LSU..

RE: GAME WEEK!!!!
I hope for the best for all of our SBC friends! Even though many of us are blood rivals during the conference schedule, OOC is a different story.

I think that most of our teams will do well even if they don't win. WKU, MTSU, ULM, and FAU have it the toughest with TROY and UNT also having their hands full. All the games are winnable.

I am pulling for UL to win big and I don't think ASU will aloow a point unless very late.

I will be rooting for you all!
