After giving it much consideration, I now believe the democrats are trying the keep medicare/medicaid and SSI from going bankrupt, and like Joey B. says "We have to spend $1trillion to keep it from going bankrupt". Let's face it, the current government safety net will not last much longer. We know medicare/medicaid and SSI are running out of money and the ratio of workers to benefactors is decreasing. The democrats are going to "fix the glitch". Their program will increase the ratio of workers to benefactors in the government run system by improving healthcare for the young increasing their life expectancy, while denying care to the seriously ill and elderly, a truly brilliant plan on their part. It's even better, by reducing the mortality rate among people under 40 while increasing it for those over 40 the average life expectancy for the US will not change significantly. Best of all allowing the government to apply a formula to who lives and who dies is a tried and true method used by a world leader loved by his nation.
