RE: Republicans = Good, Democrats = Bad
My own evaluation would be

Republicans = Bad. Religious right social agenda, support a war but not fighting it to win, when in complete power did not deliver on their promises of fiscal responsibility. Liars.

Democrats = Bad. Socialist/communist/fascist economic policies that have consistently failed when tried elsewhere. Liars.

The areas where the democrats are bad impact me personally more than the areas where the republicans are bad. I'm about as likely to marry another man as I am to need an abortion. So I tend to think of republicans as the lesser of the two evils.

Buth they're both evil. I don't want the republicans in my bedroom or the democrats in my wallet. I much prefer it when one party holds congress and the othe the white house, like for most of the Clinton years. I don't think gridlock is a bad thing, particularly when it keeps either party from taking us where they want to go.

I think what you can take from this, and any other political forum, is partisans believe what they believe, and no amount of evidence to the contrary will change those beliefs.

I think a reading of Eric Hoffer's "The True Believer" might be in order for all of us.
