This recession is like being stuck in a bad neighborhood at 2am, with our economy being a stalled engine. You all may have good ideas as to how to fix our economy in the long term, but right now let's just get the engine started and get to a safer neighborhood. At that point, we can have this academic discussion.
My money is dependent on people spending money and people having access to credit. Currently, I am getting squeezed both by my creditors which are beginning to limit my access to credit for payroll, improvements and equipment. I'm also getting squeezed by those who I've issued credit too that are struggling to pay their debts. These folks are also not able to get credit to afford my product, thus I must decrease the cost of my product to maintain cash flow. It's all a race to the bottom. If we just lower taxes and wait for things to get better, that will accelerate deflation. The problem is that people owe more on items then they are worth.
Like I said, I'm not against lowering taxes. I want/need something to be done in order to put money into the system so I can earn a living, and yes eat.

The United States Federal Government HAS NO MONEY other than what it takes from TAXPAYERS to give back to NON-TAXPAYERS at their Whim.

Who creates jobs? Business/Entreprenuers

What does it take for them to create jobs: Investments, with hopes to make a return/profit down the road from said investment. i.e. Risk is involved


Now given that, why would business owners want to take these risk. When they have an Anti-Business Administration and Congress, doing everything they can to soak them dry of the very Capital needed to create jobs? Demonize them at every turn, and sending groups like ACORN(i.e. a Witchhunt) after them to politicize what it is they do that creates jobs.


All Porkulus can do is 'create' jobs based on borrowed money, once that money runs out the funding for those jobs is gone. Worse, the Tax-Borrow a ton and Spend a ton philosophy is scaring business shitless about the economy to keep them from investing in the private sector to create Real Jobs not based on pipe dreams but Market demands.

On that note, "Minimum Wage" is about to go up to $7.50/hr across the country. So, in areas this actually affects, which is rural areas where the true Market wage is below that point(unlike most cities), and you owned a business where you could afford to hire say a College kid at $7hr but not $7.50 what do you do? Terminate the position. i.e. job loss


the whole idea of "minimum wage' is ridiculous on its face and ignorant of Markets of course. If Government had the power to help those in lower end jobs, then why are they not setting Minimum Wage at $50/hr or $100/hr? Why are they so mean as to say you can only make $7.50/hr

So what difference when they just cut the number of hours they can work. Besides even at 7.50 hr at 40 hr workweek, you are still not at a living wage. Who can live on 15K a year?

You know, why doesn't Barry just print everyone a $billion. If everyone becomes a billionaire I think people would buy stuff, right Joey B.? How can we NOT afford to print a $billion for every person in America, think of the tax revenues.

I know you conservatoons believe that tax cuts are the answer to everything. My arm hurts from softball practice yesterday, and maybe if I rub tax cuts on it, it will feel better.
I'll try to expalin this again so you understand this. The major cause of this recession is not over-taxation. The cause of the recession is because so many Americans owe more on items then they are worth. Therefore, these items can not sell, and they can not pay for these items. Currently, we are in a deflationary economy. Everyone is out bidding their goods and services to earn whatever money is available. A deflationary economy will make the situation worse. If I owe $100,000 on my house ( and I have a job which pays $50,000 which I just lost. I know you decepticons like to blame the person that lost their job for "they shouldn't have bought a house they couldn't afford") and the house is worth $50,000 yet I lost my job, how are tax cuts going to help me? I can lower the amount which I am willing to work for, 30K, 20K, 10K yet I still can't afford to pay for my house or sell it. Most recessions would call for a lowering of the interest rate, but you can't lower it. So by printing more money, it at least will balance the deflation and hopefully create inflation since everything we bought (and owe money on) from 2002-2007 is inflated.
To the question, "why should I be responsible"? The answer is we are all responsible since you enjoyed the economy while it was going well. You bought into community subdivisions where you depend on your neighbors to maintain the property value of your homes. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to afford your homes, if you had to run your own plumbing and electric. In any community, you are responsible when things go well, and when things go bad. If you don't like it, don't join a community.
