Around 65 Minorities show up at pool - Fact
White people pull kids out of pool and act standoffish - Fact (From witness who was there)
Kids were well behaved - Fact (From witness who was there)
Management knew how many kids were coming - Fact (From person who was part of arrangement making process)
Kids no longer allowed to come - Fact

I am pretty sure you can throw the "overcrowding" excuse out based on the fact that they knew how many kids were coming when they made arrangements.

What else does this leave as an explanation?

I'm not. Once again, you see what you want to see. And where has a single member been interviewed? You've pretty well ascribed motives to them, just as the author intended, while knowing scant information.

People make way too many assumptions in this world, and journalists exploit that.

Agreed that this is much more compelling. However, it still doesn't address the concerns of the other members, nor what they may have seen that Ms. Goldman didn't.

I also question whether Ms. Goldman's opinion would be widely shared. 65 kids not crowded? Consider an 8-lane pool is pretty good sized, then imagine 8 people/lane swimming in that pool. That's non-trivial.

In all likelihood I'm nowhere near as smart as I think I am. However, this was an abysmal piece of journalism. Standard fare, certainly. Which just goes back to my opinion of journalism.

Can't dispute a call based on safety. Even you would wonder why they did not make sure to have adequate life guards available considering they new the kids were coming.

Statement from another children's group claiming to be treated well should also help the club as well.

The pool was getting too dark, had to close it down for safety reasons.

Purple, Black Yellow, Brown, Caucasian, Indian, I don't care what the background. If I'm paying a membership fee I'd have somebody's ass if 65 kids were allowed in for free. Along with the shining publicity that came along with the stunt. Somebody should lose their job.
