I agree...There is a lot of blame to go around...from the welfare state causing the traveler problem to a crazy anti business/pro invironmental climate. California is really f'ed up. I just do not see ANY POTUS ever having the guts to say no...and I include RR. We will never know.

Hold on...Hold on....Is it California's fault that they keep "birthing Illegal's Babies?" Who's responsibility is it to control the boarders into this Country?

I was speaking to a California Assemblyman in the not to distant past, and he was mentioning that the conservatives in the assembly were trying to request that the Federal Government pick up the tab for the health care of illegal aliens. He felt, and rightly so, that if the US was going to continue to allow illegals easy access to this Country then they should pick up the tab for these guys.


Now, all that being said, CA has way too many growing social programs that it just can't continue to sustain. California never reformed Welfare (as put in place during the Clinton era). In fact, CA's percent of welfare cases as compared to the total US welfare cases greatly out paces the population percentage in CA compared to the entire USA. Also, we have all kinds of state mandated funds not only replace the federal stuff (like FMLA) but increase the benefits....It's just stupid.

You are correct GB...It is not the states fault..It is the fault of the federal government and its "welfare state" that encourages travelers to come into the US for the free benefits.
Stop the welfare...stop the benefits...they will go home. Let private charity handle those in real need. They return 70% of their money to those in need. The welfare state returns 30% ....This is not rocket science.

Last year's budget was well over $100 billion and we're constitutionally required to give half of that to education. As of last week we were $24 billion short. This week it's over $26 billion.

I say Obama shouldn't give California a cent. All that will do is continue the horrific spending by the dumb ass liberals who run this state and the same problem will happen next year. What is needed is a deep cut in entitlements and salaries for state workers. The unions run this state and they have extremely high wages compared to other states. I could go on and on but it will only piss me off more.

Today he came out with some comments that sounded like the Governator I voted for. He wants spending cuts, concessions from unions, a reduction in entitlements, etc. I guess once he got off steroids his balls grew back.

While I agree that it's not the state's job to protect the borders, California is of the mentality that once you get here you're home free. We have sanctuary cities with police depts that are under orders not to report illegals to ICE. We have people accusing anyone of trying to enforce immigration laws as being racist. We have rallies where they fly the Mexican flag and hang the Stars and Stripes upside down and our leaders are not only NOT offended, the practically applaud it. Gooball LA mayor, Villaragossa, panders to illegals and it's even worse in San Fran.
