Cap and Trade editorial
http://www.limaohio.com/articles/bill-38...deals.html

Quote:That was a result of proponents buying votes from moderate Democrats with special-interest favors and sweetheart deals. A week before it passed, HR 2454 was 946 pages long. It ended up being more than 1,200 pages as various constituencies made backroom deals with House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman and his cohorts. Lawmakers were inserting amendments into the bill 20 hours before the lower chamber passed it.

That blatant vote-buying and sweetheart deal-making is why environmental groups like Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace, and the open-government organization the Sunlight Foundation came out against the bill.

Cap and Trade is a joke. Democrats refuse to back off their climate change position - probably because they've put so much into it and don't want to look stupid - and they don't care if they eliminate jobs and cause higher energy costs which will raise the costs of everything else in this country. What they won't acknowledge is that people like Gore, Sean penn, Michael Moore, etc all can afford to air condition their homes or fly in their private jets while the little people the dems claim to represent have to decide if it's better to heat the house or put gas in the car because they can't afford to do both.

I know. THe feedback I read from flyover country is that the people who believe this have bought into the "energy independence" pitch. They're convinced that this will eventually eliminate oil needs, and coal burning.

I'm not sure it will, but even so, the pain to get there by this method is more than they appreciate, IMO.

RE: Cap and Trade editorial
whats interesting is that a significant number of Democrats know this is a disaster, but now that they have 60 votes they don't have alot of excuses for it not passing.

So if they don't let this get through the Senate(knowing it will be theirs and the countries demise), it'll be interesting to see how the nutroots base of theirs reacts.

How about the provision to have Federal Green Home Inspectors come to your house, inspect it so you must pass their vague rules for energy efficiency for you to sell your house. Must have thermopane windows, Insulation to their spec., Proper Seer A/C and Furnace, Window and door chalking and stripping, or whatever is the improvement da jour. NOW, This is a negotiable items in a Real Estate Contract, They want to force it on the sellers to pay for all improvements and inspections. If this provision makes it past the senate, people will have to use the the equity in their homes to make them pass federal inspection. I don't see how this could happen. They put this stupid sh!t in there so the senate gets a chance to strip it out, but the Cap and Tax bill gets passed anyway.

HARD TIMES AHEAD PEOPLE.

Politicians make me furious when their votes are bought.

It is absolutely disgusting that so few of them can actually vote on a disaster of epic proportions without receiving a new playground or road in their district.

This country is so f*cked with "leadership" like that.

Federal "Green Homes Inspector" = another job for the ACORN Thugs.

Of course, giving the inspector some money on the side so he can buy him a "Dime Bag" might get your home approved.
