Buffett on the economy
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Inv...>1=33009

Quote:Warren Buffett doesn't see the "green shoots" Ben Bernanke and other bullish investors have spoken of in recent months. In fact, the billionaire investor believes the economic picture will grow darker before things improve.

"Everything I see about the economy is that we have had no bounce," Buffett told CNBC

Sounds familiar

Quote: In the annual report, I said that the economy would be in shambles this year and probably well beyond, and I think that is true."

Also familiar

Quote:Unemployment, said Buffett, will continue to drag the economy down. He told Bloomberg news that unemployment is "very likely to go above 10%."

Wow Warren, shocking prediction there! Auto layoffs aren't in full swing, then you get the echo as smaller businesses lay off after that. That's just one industry. Construction, manufacturing, etc.

Quote:Wednesday's news about new-home sales supported Buffett's argument. New-home sales fell 0.6% in May, dashing the hopes of many bullish investors

Wow, didn't someone here say exactly that? It sure wasn't the reporters who wrote the spun up articles.

Quote:Buffett himself has not been unscathed by the economic downturn. His company, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A), reported its first loss this year since 2001.

Before things get better for investors, Buffett believes the government will need to continue to take steps to reduce unemployment.

"It looks like we're going to need more medicine, not less," he said

Ok, he loses me here. The medicine is making things worse, so we need more?

Quote:adding that the country may need a second stimulus package to pull out of the current spiral

Didn't WMDOwl say that they'd say exactly that? Eerie.

Quote:Buffett cautioned that some of the "medicine," though crucial, may have adverse side effects down the road. Inflation, he believes, could become a big problem. But, it will also likely push investors to buy stocks

Oh it's that, he needs us to take more medicine! "We" can go to hell.

I believe he's supposed to be smarter than me. Seems him voting for Obama and getting on board with the Big 0's economic plans, and somehow not forecasting this to happen from the get go, puts his intelligence in question.

Seriously, is there anything Obama is doing that any of you conservatives could not see coming?

Buffett is personally conservative. He's happy for anyone else to do stupid things so he can make money. Yes he supports Obama...he knows how to make money off of Obama.

George Soros is the same in some ways. It would seem his political grandstanding is more than simple ideology.

It never passes the mind of 99% of Americans that worsening market conditions are beneficial for some.

There is nothing "Brilliant" about Warren Buffet.

He just hit when the Iron was Hot and has kept that fire kindled ever since.

He is no fool, yet he worries not about economies and such trivial matters - - he has his own GDP & GNP - - he is like Bill Gates, the Earth could dry up and they would both still have everything they needed.

And Bill Gates is no genius either - - he saw a couple of openings and grabbed them while the grabbing was the best and he is still running off that first money.

It is said that if Bill Gates isn't told to comb his hair or take a bath, he simply just forgets to do these things for himself .... Genius.

Robs kind of Genius ....

I thought you hated Rich People Robs .... they are everything you are not and never will be ... so you despise them for their treasures.

Tut Tut, you are showing your Class Envy side here !!!!! 05-nono
