Shah's Son: Iran Conflict Could Trigger Nuclear War
Shah's Son: Iran Conflict Could Trigger Nuclear War

Monday, June 22, 2009 2:46 PM

The exiled son of the late shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, warned Monday of dire consequences for the volatile Middle East and the rest of the world if the popular uprising in Iran is crushed.

The defeat of the movement protesting the outcome of presidential elections 10 days ago would not only threaten global stability but could lead to nuclear war, Pahlavi told a news conference here.

"Their defeat will encourage extremism from the shores of the Levant to the energy jugular of the world," said Pahlavi, who left Iran a year before the ouster of his father, shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, in the 1979 Islamic revolution.

"At worst, fanatical tyrants who know that the future is against them may end their present course on their terms: a nuclear holocaust," Pahlavi told a room packed with reporters at the National Press Club in Washington.

Pahlavi urged Western media to continue to act as "the information artery connecting different parts of the freedom movement in Iran" by globally spreading the messages coming from the protesters inside the country.

The Iranian government has severely clamped down on foreign media coverage of the protests in Iran, which Pahlavi said were happening around the country and involve all walks of life from factory workers to academics.

Skirting the news blackout, Iranians have been sending messages and videos to news outlets or acquaintances outside the country using social networking sites, online video and photo outlets and micro-blogging source, Twitter.

.

Man this is a crying bleeding shame our TOTUS will not get off is ass and open his mouth about this situation.

When France and Germany beat you to the punch, you know you SUCK !!!!!!

These people are crying out for some kind of Recognized Support from the Super Powers and especially the United States .....

Why on Earth do we have to have the Apologizing Appeaser in the Oval Office during such a Historical and Extremely Important time in not only Iranian Evolution, but the Evolution in this Entire Region of this part of the Middle East.

These protesters are not writing signs in ENGLISH and sending sneaked out video tape to the United States for nothing .... THEY WANT OUR HELP and our Dude in Da Howze is just sittin' on his hands waiting for the Great Iranian Hot Dog Cook Off.

What a simpleton loser if he lets this one slip by him.

Fo, they want Obama on TV everyday saying he is in favor of what they are doing .... these are young people who don't care about the CIA or the KGB or any of the Alphabetized Secret Agencies playing Shadow Op's and Black Op's in the dead of night, they are Crying Out For Help from a man like Obama in BROAD DAYLIGHT - - not some Covert Crap. They have lived under that kind of life All Their Lives and now they want it in the open.

Look at the age of the Protesters !!!!!! They are the Future of the Middle East - - their not Old Dried Up Geezers who are just angry old men, these are Young, Viable, Smart People who are giving their very lives to CHANGE IRAN.

The least our Fat Cat TOTUS can do is get on camera, which isn't hard for him to do, and SAY "I SUPPORT YOU" to the Protesters and that would give them the fuel in their hearts to stick with it and truly make that change.

I saw the people of Iran do it in 1979/80 and this is almost the exact same thing, only 180 Degrees Back.

There will only be "This One Chance in Iran" and if Obama lets it slip by, he deserves everything Iran does to us during his Tenure as President.

And just too note - - I don't "Hate" the man, I just know Who and What he is and that makes all the difference in the World for me on supporting anything he does or believing anything he says.

Even Pahlavi said you have to be careful pushing too much, because the Iran leadership will point to that and say (with some justification) that we're interfering, and that might turn out to be counterproductive. One can argue that he hasn't gone far enough, but you do have to be a little careful. I watched the whole press conference and question/answer period. Pretty interesting.
