Those are pretty innocuous questions. Not surprised there is a lot of agreement. I think it's a good effort though, to show that people rarely listen to what they think is the "other side." They don't really know alternate opinions, and they certainly don't consider the logic that drives them.

I'm sure you could find examples on both sides of this, however the reason it's easy to believe the left is more guilty, is that by their own admission, they are concerned w/ perception and feeling, rather than logic and rigorous analysis.

It says a lot about Glenn Beck that he ran that story. I may actually agree with him 90% of the time, but his presence screams "DOUCHEBAG".

Well Glenn Beck does come across as one of your friends that you just want to punch in the face sometimes because of his tendency to get political in front of the ladies. But I can't say that I totally hate the guy and he has my common sense independence in mind. Way better than Hannity.

I did say his presence screams that, and when I see him, he's usually screaming as well.

It also grates on me that he has the gall to steal the title to his book.

what I'm not sure Beck understands is that the original book by Paine, was also a Poltical book for that specific era. Convincing the people it was wise to break off from a super power like Great Britain and going on your own is no easy task. Many loved the King and were not wild at all about the idea of going to war and breaking from the King.

It was brilliant, but it was not a foundational document though. The Founders in power did not follow Paine's advice, which was utopian and not so much "common sense"

I'm not surprised at the answers....Pretty middle of the road questions. I personally do not like to watch GB...I have little problem with his stances but I find him hard to watch. I just can't figure him out. He is kind of like Boortz....a professed Libertarian the does not understand the principle the the party was founded upon.....non initiation of force. Of course the LP now has even abandoned what made them..."the party of principle". That is why I left the LP after 20+ years. 03-puke

Being a small government Republican does NOT make you liberty minded. As long as you still accept the force of the state to support YOUR ideals....You are NOT liberty minded.....A minarchist....maybe.04-cheers

I thought the same thing. It is my understanding that Paine was closer to an Anarchist than a Libertarian. GG...Im glad you think anarchy would be utopian.03-lmfao03-lmfao

Seriously...I have not read but excerpts from Paines "Common Sense"..so my comments concerning Paine may be ignorant. Fire away!!04-cheers

I was focusing on the purist utopian idealism(a problem today again), which is what Paine was doing. We needed to get some grassroots fire going to convince enough people it was best to break from the King.

He did this with some isolationist type rhetoric, in reality the Founders were not ever isolationsit, err "non-Interventionist"

Im not an isolationist....I firmly believe in free trade, communication, diplomacy and humanitarian aid. I just think nations should in general handle their own security. Im tired of being stolen from to pay for the security of other nations. Fortunately we have the gift of an almost invasion proof geographical location...Maybe that is why we constantly choose to go elsewhere. We have to find other locations to test our military hardware and support the industrial complex that make all this stuff.05-stirthepot

He was much better before he moved. Not so spastic on his previous show. I've stopped watching him for the most part.

It says a lot about the people they interviewed when they reacted like with such horror that they agreed with him, as though its more important to be against everything they say regardless of whether they're right or wrong. If he had written a book that said the sky was blue and they found out they agreed, they'd probably spaz out about that too and start yelling that they changed their opinion and its now red.

Yes...I think they more reacted to the word "Fox" than to GB. I bet you most of them never have seen GB. Hell...Entertainment Tonight is still tops the news hours!!!03-lmfao03-lmfao

.

Seems to be until you find out it is a Fox News Conservative espousing it ...

How can you sit and Totally Agree with something someone just read to you and then when you find out it was written by a Conservative, you retract your Agreement with the Opinion ????

And Robert has to nutz to call Fox News "Faux News" - - sounds like a few people living in this Emerald City of a Country are living in "Faux Land".

At least some did stay with their original statement and kudos to them.

Faux News .... BS ..... FAUX WORLD !!!!
