TIDE rolled out to sea
'Bama to be sanctioned for violations and likely to lose three football seasons of W's...

seems like watching many of the big boy programs is like watching reruns of MASH or Seinfeld......the story lines never seem to change....witness Tim Floyd at USC.....Calipari and Memphis .....and round and round go the wheels on the bus....names of coaches or TV characters change but it's same old same old.....

what do you think of the foto of Rose as a frosh at Memphis flashing a gang sign....a bad joke he sez....are folks piling on an innocent yute or is it representative of his core values? He seems about as bright, responsible for his actions and mature as Phelps...

I don't get how this punishment matters. Really as a fan and player, the enjoyment comes from winning the game, saying you didn't win later doesn't change a damn thing. They still got to enjoy the victories. You need to punish them going forward, by taking scholarships, not letting them play in bowl games, taking money from the coach at the time, etc...

Who cares about the gang sign picture.. go on facebook and browse through people's pictures for 20 minutes and you'd see half the people on there making gang signs as a joke.

If it is but one isolated behavior, I agree.

If it's one among a pattern of behaviors, then it's a question of character.

Was he not arrested shortly after his signing for speeding in excess of 100 mph in Sugar Grove late one night?

For how many years and deeds beyond 21 is "youth" no longer an excuse for unwise choices?

Look at Phelps for another example.

In this instance perhaps NCAA is recognizing the infraction was individual players buying texbooks for friends with schollie money and therefore not actions the Athltic Dept or boosters were involved with orchestrating......

if its a repeated pattern, then yes we call in to question character...but what will this result in? he is still a cornerstone franchise player and the bulls will not get rid of him.

Under whose tenure did the infractions at Bama take place? Saban or the HC that was in place when the Huskies beat them?

Three years of wins is nothing to Saban, if they really serious about penalizing them take away any bowl $ they may have received because w/o the W's they have no bowl bid. Would hurt to lose that Sugar bowl $ even more than getting whacked by Utah by 2 td's in a "home" game.

It was Shula's last two seasons and Saban's first when this took place. Ball State Women's Track got hit with the same thing four years ago. It cost them their relay teams three days before the MAC Outdoor meet. Most likely the 'Bama kids got caught b/c the people they brought the books for tried to sell them back. As an athlete, you can't sell your books back.
