RE: Sanford in 2012
I think Palin has a huge advantage as the liberal media has wasted all their ammo on her. She pretty much has no where to go but up from here. She has the religious right, conservative women and business groups (big oil) in her corner. She can raise money which is sometimes more important than experience. She wins Iowa and perhaps plays well in a state like New Hamphire where indepents and Democrats cross over thinking they are helping obama by voting palin.

RE: Sanford in 2012
I'm getting to the point where I wouldn't mind a republican president. But, I am totally against one party running the show. One party rule kills our checks and balances system no matter which party has it. I would actually like a democratic president with a republican house or senate. Those were the conditions of the Clinton administration and it made him a much better president. I also believe that the unofficial Ivy-League education requirement would disappear.

Yeah that. The administration needs to be different from the congress. The less Washington does, the better for everyone. ( Except for those on the left who want Washington to control our every thought and movement. )

Republicans have done a lot to make the Government bigger. The left isn't the sole blame here.

the MSM still has to give some level of respect to her, she already can't go on scumbags like Lettermans' show for example.

the Left believes in pre-emptive warfare when it comes to domestic politics, and they have a powerful tool to smear their opponents with. but yeah, Palin is still hugely popular with the base of the party and draws large crowds.

The thing that hurts Palin is Newton (I still say that's the worst name in the history of history). These are the two people that are effectively stretching their party in two different factions. It screams Teddy and Taft.

RE: Sanford in 2012
Palin has social cons down(big reason they hate her), no problem with that traditional base.
she has Fiscal Cons down given her record, minus the handful of wingnut ideologues seeking an impossible Utopia

and then the Foreign Policy and National Security conservatives will get behind her, not her expertise issue like the other two, but she's on board and would nominate a Cheney type as her VP.

That is the true deal, Reagan/Buckely Conservative alliance that was so powerful for the most part. Difference was Reagan was deeply ideological on the Foreign Policy wing of this and had spent decades thinking about the issue and worldviews.

none of that matters if the MSM continues to get away with their evil antics as defacto State run media

Sanford = boring, not electable nationally because of this.

Palin = full of charisma, rock star, the type of personality the country is more likely to elect.

what it turned into was a "Realist" thread, started by Reb.

RE: Sanford in 2012
btw, if you look at the Presidents elected in the modern Media Era, the more 'likeable' guy wins everytime with possible exception of Carter if you go that far back

- Carter defeats Ford, possible exception to this rule, but should be noted Country was pissed at Ford at the time for pardoning Nixon and "Carter sure seemed to have good intentions"

-Reagan Defeats Carter, uh, don't think much explanation is needed
-Reagan defeats Mondale, see above

Bush 41 defeats Dukasis - Dems still nominated tool bags

Clinton, with an assit from Perot, defeats Bush. Famously played Jazz on late night TV
Clinton defeats Bob Dole

Bush 43 defeats Gore, even though Economy was good at the time, countries head was still in sand on terror and Clinton was popular. Gore = pompous windbag of "lockbox" fame

Bush 43 defeats Kerry(similar to Gore and Dukasis)

Obama defeats McCain

In all of these examples, with exception of Carter, the Guy who wins is the Guy that the average Joe Blow Voter see's on TV and says "Yeah, I could have a beer with that guy alright". i.e. the More likeable of the two

These voters decide elections, or one of the key deciders, and they aren't very ideological at all.

the MSM has learned they can play a key role though, to a degree, in painting one guy in a better light than the other. They do this in alot of different ways.

Sanford = old white guy.

Palin = MILF

Most posters here = guys, probably heterosexual

Seems like a simple equation to me. :)

I retract my earlier statement about being a couple of generations away from the movie Idiocracy, where they elect a pro wrestler/porn star as President. Maybe we are already there.

Hey, Reagan was an actor....however one with serious intellect and street smarts.

who was also ridiculed by the "Elites", famously as an 'ambicle dunce'

Palin even being nominated confirms it.

No, the Barackstar even being nominated confirmed it. Palin was just the right-wing version of him. She unfortunately was the only chance they had.

Reagan elected president

Ventura as governor, Sonny Bono in Congress, "Gopher" from Love Boat in Congress, etc., etc.

The average joe spends about 5-15 minutes every four years in Sept-Oct deciding who to vote for. When they can't decide they ask their friends.

Balance of Power Contest

RE: Sanford in 2012
At this point...I have zero concern for who gets elected into positions of power. It makes absolutely no difference to me. I know that regardless of the gang or member....They still will continue the growth of the state and its use of force upon me to support it through theft. The sooner it implodes upon itself....the better.

Not even close. Barackstar had 23 debates, beat the Clinton machine, wrote 2 best-selling books, and campaigned for 2 years. He created a discpline oragnized movement at the time when Americans wanted change.
