.
So you all are saying that this guy took a Lump Sum Payout and was so robbed by both State and Federal Governments so badly, that he only ended up with $29 Million out of a possible $232 Million ????
I mean come on guys ... I know they rob you down to your Speedo Briefs with taxes and off sets, but to take $203 Mil from this guy is a little off the scale of taxation if it is on PMS/PMDD.

Only way that would happen is if someone else also had a winning ticket. The current lump value of 232, would be about 130. 40% of that 52 million. He should be able to keep about 78.

I look at taxing Lotto winnings differently than taxing wages or skills.
For Lotto, you didn't earn the money through labor, or skill, or any fungible mean outside of luck. When you purchased the ticket, you were fully aware of all the tax ramifications of winning that are available to understand on multiple websites, paper information plus on notes in small print on some tickets and where you purchase the tickets.
You are not forced to purchase Lotto to feed your family, pay your car and home note, or to put food on the table - even though in the specifc situation, it seems like this gentleman needs the Lotto to do just that, but one exception does not make the rule.
As such, he is personally entering into an agreement, guided by his own free will, at which he is completely and totally bound by the tax rules and regulations of that Lotto event.
I have no sympathy for the taxes he has to pay on this.

I see your point...but...I know before I go to work that I will be stolen from. Is that not entering into a the same agreement using the same free will? I really see no difference in the degree of theft.

yea, we know your answer to life's evil is contract agreements. Ultimate fine print;
By Breathing the States Air, you are personally entering into an agreement, guided by your own free will, at which you are completely and totally bound by the rules and regulations of the State. You agree to support society and all its perceived good and evils. As long as you both shall live.

That is as silly as trying to claim that because one is born on a particular land mass that they have contracted to abide by the laws that they had NO part in .....It is all just a bunch of nonsense that us comfortable slaves(Yes...I admit I work on the plantation) have bought into through years of indoctrination. Hey....It is fun here on the plantation...Big screen TVs...internet porn...vodka...WTF!!!!
