I understand that he has a right to protest. But jeez, there are certain rules that you must follow.

I used to be a fan of Keyes, but then he pulled a "Hillary" and tried to get elected to the Senate in Illinois. Now he has become the antithesis of Al Sharpton....credibilty..gone!

Like the rules Code Pink follows? Protesting at Dead Soldier's funerals? Or when numerous conservatives like Coulter, Rumsfeild are driven off the stage at colleges around the country.

But do two wrongs make a right? And code pink has been kicked out of places before, I've seen it. But in this case Keyes was told that he could protest anywhere in South Bend proper except for the private property of the University. He did it not once but twice.

And he will do it again. It's called civil disobedience. He has strong conviction that it is improper to have ObamaMessiah at Notre Dame. Leave the man to express his convictions, it is not a violent protest. There are protests on college campus' all the time.

Usually the protests on college campuses are made up of college students, professors, and a few activist whacko's. Guess where Keyes falls in that list. Is he even Catholic?

And if they tell you not to come on campus, you don't come on campus. And it is appropriate to have Obama give the speech because it was the University that invited him. I wonder what would have been said if he turned it down.

America's colleges and universities are America's Madrasahs.

Well it appears many Bishops are going to be protesting with Keyes. Who's going to lock up the Bishops?

You guys know I love ya, but the campus is private property and if he's not invited on it he has no right being there. Now if the bishops invite him to join their protests then that's another story. I hate this civil disobedience stuff, guys like Jackson, Sharpton and others have shown it to be more of an irritation and publicity stunt than anything else. Free speech is one thing, but if it disrupts an event or causes problems or annoyance to others then it's over the line.

You know Steve, I don't know about Keyes' motivation, But he is a constitutional lawyer, and he knows he crossed the line trespassing on private property. His gut is telling him that he must do this. He is protesting peacefully and not resisting arrest. He will pay his $250 and be on his way.

What if Rosa Parks realized that because she did not own the bus she was riding on, she might be arrested for standing up to the establishment? It's the fear that allows evil and intolerance to flourish.

Sum, if people practiced civil disobedience every time they felt passionate about something nothing would ever get done because we'd have protesters every where. I might feel differently if Keyes was some how related to ND, but since he isn't I feel he has no dog in this hunt. Now I believe if the students want to protest, have at it.

Rosa Parks, on the other hand, was riding a public bus. She did the right thing.

You do have a valid point about concerning private property rights. I must concede that in this case he has NO business there. He may certainly protest outside the ND property as long as he has permission or is on public property. I must admit that I was being contradictory in my staunch belief in private property rights....Thanks for the sanity check.04-cheers
