National healthcare will happen even IF...
IT KILLS YOU!!! From the looks of a very reasonable assessment it probably will.
Quote:When all of America's top health insurers and providers met at the White House this week and pledged to save $2 trillion over the next decade in health costs, they were pledging to sabotage our medical care. The blunt truth, which everybody agreed to keep quiet, is that the only way to reduce these costs is to ration healthcare, thereby destroying our system.
Ration is such a strong word, liberals prefer provider choice.
Quote:Congress is trying to cut Medicare fees by 21 percent. But cuts in fees and doctors' incomes will just discourage people from entering the profession
Doctors are greedy and shouldn't expect to earn more than UAW members.
Quote: Forty-four percent of the drugs approved by the Canadian health authorities for use in their country are not allowed by the healthcare system due to their high cost. As a result, death rates from cancer are 16 percent higher in Canada than in the United States.
Yes but everyone is covered isn't that what's really important, lets not worry that the coverage is crappy and more "covered" people will die.
Quote:The only real way to save money on the scale projected is to ration healthcare services. Optimists say that this can be achieved by increased use of preventive care. But the Canadian experience indicates that when government - or its satellite private insurance providers - ration healthcare, they cut preventive care first. In Canada, colonoscopies are so rationed that the colon cancer rate is 25 percent higher than in the U.S. (even though Canada has a much smaller proportion of poor people, whose frequently bad diets make them more prone to the disease).
Does this mean national health care will be a pain in the arse!?!
Quote:The vicious cycle of cuts in medical resources and in the number of doctors and nurses will doom healthcare in this country. This wanton destruction will not be reversible by any bill or program. A crucial part of our quality of life - the best healthcare in the world - will be gone forever.
Don't people get it?!? It's not about quality, it's about quantity, everyone will have the same CRAPPY quality of care, we can all die together!!

F'ck it. I'm turning liberal.
tomorrow I'm going to quit my job and live off the system that I've paid into for decades. I'm not going to pay my mortgage, instead I'll blame the greedy banks and get them to give me my home for free. I'm going to glom onto Welfare, possibly under six or seven names, collect food stamps and what ever other program the libs have set up for themselves. When I go to the doctor I'll demand free health care and if they don't give it to me then I'll tell them I'm here illegally and they'll say "Oh, Ok, we'll be with you in a minute." And if anyone tries to stop me I'll scream that I'm a gay transgender who's tired of living in the shadows and accuse you all of a hate crime.

For a person who has lived in a system I can tell you that it's only good for checkups. They should set hospitals up for those who want to be paid for by the government. They would probably use generics and most of the doctors would be new because the doctors who want high pay would compete for private positions. Those who work should keep the insurance that they have now and be treated in the private hospitals and care physicians.
Even in Canada they are slowly repealing things that are covered by the national center. Dental and eye coverage is private now and soon to follow are specialists. The conservatives hold the majority there and the Governor General is going to sign anything that they put in front of her.
