Great Political move Todd Stroger!!!
With elections coming up for county board members and president, the board decides to reverse the 1% sales tax hike. Stroger will veto this but changes mind. Throws the county budget back on the board members. Cook County has money problems. After the sales tax is repealed, it will be interesting where the money will come from to balance the budget. If you are a non cronie working for the county, you better watch out. Your job might be eliminated.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Stroger does sign the repeal of the sales tax increase. Then everyone will be saying you can't cut this or that.

Between the criminals running the county, city, and state, it is either by miracle or luck that we have enough money to even buy a cup of coffee. I work in the city but try to spend as little money here as possible. With the 10.25% sales tax and other sundry taxes such as on bottle water, etc., I feel like I am being fiscally raped. As soon as it is feasible for my wife and I to move out of Crook County and Illinois, we shall do so.

I have been here all my life and have never seen it worse. If you or I did the things they do, we would be sent to prison with no chance for parole. Instead of voting in the next election (for the next set of criminals to grace government), I plan on entering the polling place and urinating profusely on the ballot. At least that way, I can "vote" the way I feel.

05-offtopic Well, there is always Texass. You can be near GWB and his father. Not to mention the GWB library. Oh, when they seceed from the US, you won't have to worry about paying the high US/state/local taxes anymore. You will just have to contend with no services(police, fire, parks, roads-you know all that wasteful spending/pork projects), no corporate rules so pollution is everywhere(though, I guess that isn't really any different than now-just worse). Also, there will be no work rules. THats right, they WILL make you work 60 hours(or more) and get paid $2.00 iunless you are a billionaire. As for defense, you definately have to get the bomb and a huge military(of mechanical items because of a limited population). You guys on the right LOVE the bomb and are just itching to use it. Of course, you put all Muslims in "jail"(ie. concentration camps) and torture them until they tell you what you tell them to tell you. Kill any of those damn Mexican pests that come in illegally. Christianity will be the official(and only) religion. Wow. What a utopia!

Gee, it does sound like a fairyland to me, but we were just thinking about crossing the border into Indiana!

By the way, I have no problem paying taxes. What I do have a problem with is paying taxes to a government run by crooks who fatten the pockets of their crooked friends with my tax dollars. As I used to work in government, I have tangible evidence of this. So, no matter what you say to the contrary is wrong.

Let me get this straight. You are thinking of moving to Indiana to get away from government corruption? 03-lmfao Good luck with that one.

You got that right! Whatever goes on in Indiana is nothing compared to what goes on in Illinois, Crook County, and Chicago. As an alternative, I would consider staying in Illinois, but outside of Crook County. If I had my choice (without consideration for job), I would move to Wisconsin if I had to stay in the Midwest. However, no matter what, the day after I retire I am leaving the Midwest for someplace south. And, it will be someplace with minimal to no blatant government corruption.

Dog Fan: Wisconsin? Wisconsin, while scenic in some areas, is the last place you would go if you had financial concerns. With respect to WI, think California...tetering on financial disaster, but with crappy weather.

Robert: We on the right LOVE a strong defense and are looking forward to use it against those who pose a NUCLEAR threat. Al Gore told me of one such threat. 31 seconds.

"The Internal Revenue Service slapped a $11,668.10 lien on Stroger and his wife earlier this year. The Strogers have yet to fully pay that debt, meaning the federal government could hold up a sale of the Strogers' house or other property if payment terms aren't reached."
