1. Texas cannot secede from the US. I think the event of 1861-1865 pretty much resolved that.

2. However, under the 1845 Annexation Legislation and Treaty, Texas CAN subdivide into a total of 5 states. This was not changed by any of the Reconstruction Acts.

Rick Perry, being the typical Aggie, can't get his Texas History right.

Let 's see the Texas Legislature submit to the US Congress its Intent to Subdivide and let everyone scream.

However, I can't find a map of how it would be divided.

There is no map. There has never been any actual agreement as to how the division would be accomplished.

Texas Monthly had a very complete article examining the issue back during the Carter years when Rexans were a lot more disenchanted with the president than they are today. Of course, Obama still has 3+ years to go.

If you have Legislators fleeing to Oklahoma and New Mexico over Re-districting, imagine what would happen if this was ever seriously discussed.

I don't know why people say stupid things, but they do. ^ Example Ø 05-stirthepot

Maybe you get your info from morons like this one.
Q: What states owned slaves?
A: southern states

Who in this country is familiar with slavery and slave holding (other than those who have escaped slavery coming here)? And what part of this country didn't participate when your great-great grandfather was alive?

Wouldn't it be crazy if one day you're cruising the "World Music" section and you come across a bunch of Kenny Rogers?
