If it was Obama's fault it happened in the first place, it wouldn't be such a stretch for him to take credit for the crew overthrowing the pirates. Or neither event can be much accredited to Him ().

Why is it that the ACLU always wants US law followed outside the country where international law rules supreme? Is that not arrogant?

I know maritime law and I can't see where the crew went wrong here. But I don't see where Obama has anything to do with the ship being hijacked. Pirates hijack ships and they don't care who's in office. You can't reference everything as being Obama's fault.

I've never just sat there and blamed Bush for anything. I happen to know when it is a presidential issue and when it isn't.

I did. Hell, many conservatives on THIS board did. They were just drowned out by the conservatives trying to defend him on other issues that were concocted and conspiratorial as hell.

Sorry, I meant to say "just anything". I have blamed his administration before but it was towards things that were clearly presidential issues.

Jefferson declared war on the Barbari Pirates and sent John Paul Jones and the Marines in after them. On the other hand, we gave Jean LeFitte letters of marque and reprisal to capture British ships during the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. So, if there are Pirates who tick us off, our Navy has precedent to kick their butts.
