IMHO, there is a logical disconnect there. That (and the horrendously irritating country versions of rock songs) is the biggest reason I don't care for modern country, save a handful of acts. Give me Hank Williams any time (undoubtably one of the least professionaly produced acts of all time) ... not that I was old enough to ever see his drunk ass. I'm not a big admirer of drug or alcohol abuse, but:

I thought about posting all the hot country music chicks to show Roberta how gay he is.

Taylor Swift will do, throw in Pickler, Underwood, and several others.

I'm not crazy about most country music, although some tunes I like. But I have rather eclectic tastes, and most people don't share 'em. But my favorite is good acoustic instrumental music, like bluegrass or folk music (no matter what nation it's from), and other such stuff. Here's a sample of my kind of music...

Oh..I agree. I was just commenting on how professionally done the show was in regard to sound, lighting and musicianship.

Hey...Give me Robert Earle Keen or good bluegrass acts like the Krugers in a small venue anytime.04-cheers

I like that...I'll check him out. You like banjo....You have to check out the Krugers. I really think Jens Kruger may be the best I've ever seen. I went last year and saw these guys in a converted movie theater in Southern Pines NC. I left with a new appreciation of bluegrass music.
They are from Switzerland and came to the US and moved to NC to learn from Doc Watson. They listened to his records in Switzerland and came to learn from the best. 04-cheers

One of the perks of living south of Houston during the 1970's was the proximity to "Gilley's" back before "that movie" came out and turned it into a Pasadena Tourist Trap.

Back in the 70's if you looked close to 18, or with a group of 18 year olds they let you in and served you beer. And the bouncers did not hesitate to take you out back and kick your ass if you caused any problems. The youngsters kept off to the side and didn't get in the way of the "regulars"

They had some great acts performing at the place, and during the Houston Rodeo you had all sorts of stars showing up impromptu performances.

Oh yes, the mid seventies. At 15, I was walking into liquor stores in daylight and buying whatever I wanted, no problems being served in bars, spending late nights in strip clubs. Never owned a fake ID. Wasn't needed.

I spent some time in Houston during the late 70's. The women were beautiful and the men wore cowboy hats and pointy shoes. I had long hair and sneakers.
