One tenth of all private colleges have enrollments under 500 and an additional one fifth are between 500 and 999. Three tenths have enrollments under 1000. Those who don't have a good sized (millions) endowment, committed alumni or a compelling reason for families to spend $30K plus per year to send their offspring to them for 2 or 4 years will have a tough time staying open.
