Silly 'pubs. Everyone knows you have to double a deficit to get rid of it.

RE: The Republicans have a plan to balance the budget.
Look, the republicans had their chance and blew it.
They were returned to power on principle--solid principle in the form of Newt's Contract--in 1994.
Unfortunately, power quickly became more important to them than principle.
Go back and look at the Contract, and you will be amazed how little of what it calls for ever got put into place.
The republicans were put into power because they promised to live up to the Contract.
They didn't.
The American people finally had enough and turned them out.
The republicans deserved the trash can; unfortunately, the rest of us didn't deserve what we're going to get.
If the republicans were somehow put back into power, would I trust them to fix things?
As of right now, no.

Didn't Reagan triple his deficit? I do understand why though.

keeping up with the Deficit as % of GDP is a more important number than just a balanced budget. Under Reagan Assets outgrew Liabilities by a 10 to 1 ratio roughly.

This was happening recently until the credit crunch, now it seems we are spending much much much more, and at the same time doing things to hurt GDP growth. It could be disastourous. We really need a new invention of some sort, like the Microchip in the 80's

problem here is reality, not lack of princples so much, alot of that is just talk. The way the system is currently structured there are just too many political pressures coming from all sides and its too easy.

the best solution would be if POTUS had Line Item Veto powers like many Governors do, however that alone wouldn't gurantee anything. Congress if full of idiots, if you don't give them some of what they want its reasonable they will not give you support in areas the POTUS needs them to follow.

It's like asking, What dealer do you trust with a rigged game? The game is rigged people. I just so happen to like some of the priorities of the blue gang. So I don't mind it as much, but most parts still bother me.

This is exactly why, I think, ObamaMessiah and the Dems are ready to defer it all to "the world, or the One World Order".

Well, I certainly don't trust one world order to fix it.
Unless your idea of perfection is Orwell's "1984," the ultimate nanny state.

I don't know about him but I would trust a fearful warmongering economist. In other words I would trust you. Oh wait. Forget that idea. THere would be no world left after you were done with it. "Oh my god! THis country is going to attack us. Oh my god, this group of people hates us so they are going to attack. I must be proactive and nuke everyone before we get hit again. THen we could get the rest of the world(that isn't glowing) and install the trickle(down my leg) economy the way it should be. THe rich control everything and everyone else live in poverty and work as slaves for the wealthy. Oh, no welfare for you pathetic whining slaves, if you can't make it, we aren't giving you a safety net. I would just suggest if things get that bad you just off yourself".

There are rich and powerful in EVERY country, RobertN, including Zimbabwe. Difference is, in this country, the common person can reach the top. I know, I know, you don't like that. It mirrors freedom just a little too much and requires hard work and personal responsibility.

this is in fact, exactly what Socialism is.

The Road to Serfdom, as FA Hayek put it and was vindicated on by the time of his death and fall of the berlin wall.

I don't know how you can go around thinking this country is better off being in a position of weakness than strength. Cater was thought to be weak and look what happened to him. Reagan was thought to be strong and not only did no one f'k with us, the Berlin wall came crumbling down. Obama is thought to be weak and look what's happening to him after 2 months: China scolded him for his spending, NK is about ready to launch a missile, Chavez has turned on him, Europe has chastised him about his recovery plans, and the only people that will work with him are tax cheats. The only people Obama is making friends with are the Iranians and that's at the expense of the Israelis.

And yes, the rich control just about everything. You may not like it, I may not like it, we all may not like it, but that's the way of the world because dollars = strength. But if you dislike the rich so much then start hammering away at Gore, Springsteen, Hollywood, Jane Fonda, Rosie,....there's no shortage of liberal millionaires, so once you denounce and get rid of them then you can start on the conservative millionaires. Until then.......

I used to think this was a good idea, but now I'm convinced it would be used more to punish the opposition party and squelch dissent in the president's own party than anything else.

I guess its a moot point since the SCOTUS has ruled against it.

there are no good solutions, Just better bad options.

Obama's plan to balance the budget................have his dog eat the report when it gets to his desk.......then he will have Biden spill coffee or pizza on it, then scribble his name on it and then say well.....I couldn't make out the last few pages...guess it just slipped by like those AIG bonuses.....Senator Dodd and Barney Frank.....will fix it.....I'm gonna go play basketball then fire some CEO's then jam with the ipod. Then go Twitter while the country goes down the shitter.
