Don't be surprised if they land a solid coach. Course the problem for them is that the ARIZONA job is still open. Also, I believe UGA is still open.

Arizona looks to be filled with Tim Floyd. Now the question is how Memphis relates to USC as a job, and I'd have to think Memphis > USC > UGA. No one at UGA gives a flying flip about basketball...sure it's an $EC job, but I don't see them landing a top coach before Memphis.

Memphis will still be good unless they hire North Florida's old coach coach. 03-wink

But I don't think they can sustain being a 1-4 seed type of program probably more like 4-8 unless they get a great hire.

Floyd is wasted at USC, he needs to get back closer to his contacts in the south.

one of the rumors in hot springs was that wrong waters 'wonderful' deal may knock us out of our fcs coverage.

so forgive me if me and the rest of the wku fans seem a bit less than grateful. it's a joke of a deal. if it was a great deal, then maybe we could stomach losing seeing 95% of our games televised.

Speaking of UNF, there was a rumor going around last week about Kermit Davis being their new HC (he is good friends with UNF AD Lee Moon).

Doesn't look like that will happen, now.

Davis DID, in fact, have talks with Moon.

Previously discussed but ESPN's position all along has been that the current FCS deal violates their contract but the language wasn't strong enough for them to pursue it. They fixed it this time.

I guess we could have turned it down so that the only TV anyone gets is when WKU picks up their game. 05-mafia

Good or bad, there is no denying that it takes away one advantage that WKU had over the rest of us.

or we could have been trendsetters and said f' getting one game every 4 years on espn the ocho and negotiated with fox or one of the other college sports networks. but that would have required wrong waters to get off his fat ass and get to work and try something 'outside the box'.

espn has already shown their contempt for this league by insisting that our championship game is played at 10:00 on a freakin' tuesday night. screw espn and look elsewhere and put our tourney on a fri-sun format.

spin it however you want....it is an example of wku being drug down by the rest of the conference so espn the 12 can show your team once every four years on a channel that nobody has like espnu.

i could care less as a wku fan if we are ever on the ocho......

Funny, you goto messangeboards in the MWC and all of them ***** that they are stuck on Versus. Their commish went "outside the box" and he gets ripped for it.

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of thing.

MWC was on the verge of breaking the deal because CSTV didn't offer as many TV sets as promised. So how'd they fix the deal? CSTV which was already on Dish and Direct bought space on the alternate sports channels. Say each has 2 million subscribers. So that's 4 million homes between the two. They buy time on two alternate channels on each and show three games instead of 1. But those two extra channels are available in 4 million homes and they counted each. Just like that, they are available in 12 million homes because each channel was counted independently. No more people could see the games than before but they met the channel count.

Read the Utah papers they stay filled, primarily with BYU fans, who complain that they can't get the cable company to pick up any of the channels. Used to be those games reverted to local TV in Utah but CSTV/Mtn basically takes every single BYU game to keep the pressure up on the cable companies. Every once in awhile Altitude (regional sports net in the Rocky Mountain region) picks up a Sun Belt game. We reach more homes in that area when they do than the MWC does with the Mtn Network.
