Government is not stupid.
Often we think that government is incompetent and stupid.

The next time that pops into your head.....

Think about how brilliant an organization needs to be to get people to.....

accept and trade pieces of paper for the fruits of their labor only on that organizations promise of value.

allow 50% of their income to be removed from them and be used by that organization in any manner it chooses.

accept arbitrary prohibitions on the consumption of substances and regulations on personal behavior that harm no other person.

allow their children to be taken away from them for a part of each weekday for 12 years.

volunteer to defend that organization with their lives.

Keep in mind that this organization is using almost zero physical force against the people to achieve these things.

Government is not stupid......The stupidity may will lie elsewhere.05-stirthepot

While it may not use physical force, it uses the threat of it all the time. That is why it is so effective. I often vacillates between thinking the government is incompetent and just evil.

Go ask Randy Weaver about that. He might a different take on it.

If you replaced the word government with mafia most of the above would still hold true.

The coercion and threat of violence is surely what makes people obey.

The people have been indoctrinated to such a degree that they willingly participate in residual tyranny without a thought.

As an example....What 2 occupations refer to themselves as "honorable"?
This verbal slight of hand is designed to make congressmen and judges seem somehow more important than other occupations, even though they actually "create" nothing of substance. Their entire occupations are built upon fictional concepts.05-stirthepot

RE: Government is not stupid.
Government is a vast machine, with a huge inertia. It rolls over anything that gets in its way, whether it wants to or not. It has no morals, and no feelings, due to the sheer weight of numbers - and diverse opinions of the mass of humanity needed to drive the beast...
