I don't think the manufactured drugs should be legal. Just the stuff that grows out of the ground.

I'm all for the legalization of marijuana, but if you think we should make Crystal Meth, Crack, Heroin, LSD, and Cocaine legal, you're nuts.
The vast majority of the drug war concentrates on Cannabis.
The FBI's own stats bear it out.
In 2007 there were 1,841,182 drug arrests total. Cannabis arrests were 1,647,740 of that total. Only 10.5% of the arrests were for other drugs.
Cannabis is the fuel for the drug war. I do not have a clue how much money is generated by making these arrests...but...It has to be very profitable for law enforcement and is a large part of their budgets.
I am for any policy(including total decrim) that eliminates the dangerous black market and stops putting people in jail cells for victimless crime.
I think decrim of cannabis would be a good first step in reducing the violence on the street.

The legality of cannabis in our own boarders could also put an end to the smuggling of it from other countries. I can't say that it would stop completely and right away, but it would be less profitable to smuggle.

Medical research keeps coming up with beneficial properties for marijuana. Keeping it illegal merely serves to bankroll a war with criminals, and the money from the illegal sales - and government seizures - bankrolls both sides.
This country has learned absolutely nothing from prohibition...

I agree completely. Prohibition only empowers those that will go beyond the law to sell and distribute it.

The only 2 collectives that really do NOT want cannabis decriminalized are the black market dealers and law enforcement.
Of course...They are the 2 collectives that profit from it being illegal.

I've read that decriminalizing cannabis will not do much to slow the violence outside of the US as most of the money that are making is from other drugs. Granted it will save a lot of money that is wasted incarcerating non-violent offenders.

It won't totally stop importation of other drugs, but it will put a hurtin' on the most profitable one.

I wonder if drug dogs are trained not to hit on the drugs in cop cars?
This is the peril of allowing your child to be abducted into government school.
The son of a close friend of mine was suspended from HS for 3 days for having an arrow in the bed of his pickup. He had been hunting over the weekend and left it by accident. Keep in mind...just an arrow..no bow.
They suspended him for having a deadly weapon in his vehicle.
This is the kind of crazy ass stuff that goes on in these indoctrination centers.

Out here a few years ago a 6 year old got expelled for taking a set of nail clippers to school - you know, the type with the little chain on the end. The schoold cited their zero tolerance policy.
Fo, doesn't that school know the pickup is a more deadly weapon than an arrow?

If the boy can do damage to you with just an arrow then he's probably damn good at the javelin.
