The sail got whacked pretty good. Some comments indicate welds broken around the sail, making it difficult to get it back home under its own power. May have up load it on a Float-On Float-Off ship and haul it home like the USS Cole.

I am sorry. I should NEVER criticize the people the military are recruiting. THere should have been plenty of kids in the south who would want to go and get killed for the "crusade" because Iraq attacked us on 9/11. Yeah, I should have known you probably aren't embarassed to have felons and unqualified are being accepted to defend the country(well unless they are gay, then kick then out right away because them fairies are gonna rape me in the "foxhole"!).

There are plenty of kids from the north that also join the military. This is why I hate the North/South arguments. No matter what side these kids are from, they are more than willing to help their battle buddy.

You find an individual in the military who has commited a crime while in the military, someone who deserves criticism, then I would say feel free to knock yourself out. But save it for those who give cause for condemnation. Even someone who is trying to avoid a felony conviction by joining deserves our thanks and a second chance unless and until they prove otherwise. You as a brainless liberal would champion that for these same individuals (or unrepentant terrorists) if they hadn't commited the unforgiveable sin of joining the military.

And no, I'm not embarassed by ANYONE who joins. I'm proud of each and everyone. Until they give reason to think otherwise of them.

I'm disheartened that people like you are fellow citizens.

Dishartened that I am a fellow citizen? THats ok. I feel the same about you. I just don't think we should be sending felons or those that aren't qualified into the military. If we were going to lower standards, we should have just instituted the draft.

Is this your way of being assured you will never have to participate in the military, demand they have high standards?

Explain, in your opinion, what are disqualifiers, for service? Besides the already stated felons and you.

Heard some info.

Hartford at Periscope Depth. Point of Impact on New Orleans was Frame 85 starbord.

Harford rolled 82 degrees to starboard (without scramming the reactor) after the collision.

Sail on Hartford is bent 10 degrees off vertical.

Damage to the Hartford "bad.. but not as bad as the Baton Rouge".. The Baton Rouge collided with a Russian submarine back in 1992. Damage was to Baton Rouge was such that it was decomissioned in 1994.

Lets see where the ship is headed. If she is taken to Puget Sound she's done.

Is it just me, or does it seem unwise to anyone else to have a disabled ship sailing around the Gulf with what (superficially) looks like an Israeli Flag?

I was speaking of your "Qualifications" as you put it ..... you know "Lesser Human Beings" and all that jazz ???

And I am never ashamed of my Brothers in the Armed Forces, they do a job you evidently CAN NOT do, so you need to sing a new song homez.

And if you didn't already know this HALF-WIT, the Courts have been sentencing Convicted Individuals to either Spend Time in Prison or Join the Military since the Military began ... fool.

Most undisciplined youth found what they were lacking in the Military because a Judge made it so and made "Spotless Careers" out of being a Soldier - - which is something you will never know the PRIDE OF BEING.

And SO WHAT if there are Felons and such enlisting - - that has been going on since Military Dawn .... the French Foreign Legion only took Felons for most of its history - - and I am here to tell you that you DON't Screw with the Legion ... they will take you out and they don't have all the silliness to deal with either. They are battle hardened almost from day one of their First Post and they know how to fight .... they are one of the Elite Segments of the Worlds Military and they are almost 90% Running from the Law ..... now that's awesome for a bunch of Felons.

And don't make the mistake that the Legion lets them Slack Off - - they still beat you to a pulp in the Legion if you mess up and no one does a thing about it.

You honestly need to RESEARCH before you stick your foot in your mouth Robert .... truly ..... 04-chairshot 03-nutkick

PS Edit: They were needing Soldiers pretty badly when I was in - - we had this one little guy who could not read a single word of any language - - so when he took his Military Entrance Exam, they actually had to give it too him by using Pictures and other visual aids - - he WAS ONE OF THE BEST SOLDIERS in the ENTIRE COMPANY .... so WTF is your lame POINT about Robert ????

You carrying "Obama's Torch for Slandering the Special Olympics and are trying to somehow apply it to the U.S. Military ????? Like Lib will travel huh ????

Oh this foolishness in burning my hide !!!!!

ROBERT = = Tell me how many "Rings are on an M16 or an M4 Bolt" ????

What is the Difference between the "M16 Bolt, the AR15 Bolt, and what is the Difference between the Bolt and the Bold Carrier" ???

What is the Normal Factory Trigger pull of an M16/M4 ???

How man "Twist Rates are there in the M16/M4 Rifle System" (hint: there are several) ????

What is the "Maximum Effective Range of an M60/SAW" ???

How many people make up a SOG or a Spec Op's Team (hint: it can vary but there are a certain number for the Mission Requirements) ???

Name me the 'step-by-step' counts and maneuvers in the "15 Count Manual of Arms" ???

And an easy one: "What do you use to measure the Tilt Forward of the Brim/Rim of your Military Head Gear as it rest on your Head" ???

And when at "Port Arms, how do you Salute an Officer" ????

That ought to be enough to keep you busy on Google for a while.

"less than qualified recruits" never make it because those get weeded out early in the process.

But you RobertN Turd would never make it in the US military, as a suicide bomber, you will have to move (please) to the Middle East to use you skills to their utmost.

Chop off 12 miles on either side for territorial waters, and it gets pretty narrow pretty quick. Plus there are a bunch of Iranian-owned islands out there that muck things up with the boundaries. I imagine subs would use transit passage and go through submerged, which confines them to the traffic separation scheme. Given the depth of the water and the draft of supertankers, it's probably safer to go through at PD so they could at least see what is running them over. I wonder if the New Orleans was running dark?

One problem with sub ops in the Gulf is that it's pretty shallow. And there are a lot of reefs scattered about.
Another problem is that the water is very clear. We have seen submarines visually before we picked them up on sonar. Of course, that was on a WWII vintage FRAM I can, too.

There you go SMN! Everyday released inmates are being put into a world that refuses to hire them and it gets hard to live that clean life. If the person is released and wants to join the military to start their life on the straight-and-narrow then I say more power to them. When your debt to society is paid, it's paid. It's even better when people pay their debt to society and they, in turn, serve society after release.

I'd still like to see a link on felons being allowed to serve. I'm a CECOM IA Specialist working right outside of Ft. Gordon, Ga, my last duty station, and I haven't seen any of'em. If they are, I can guarantee you their roles are restricted to cooks, truck drivers, or other jobs of that sort. I can also guarantee you that there are no felons in the US Army Signal Corps as every MOS requires a security clearance. The highest I held was a TS-SCI/SSBI. I hold one now, but I won't get into that.

Robert's dumb ass seems to think we're putting felons in charge of multi-million dollar equipment. ....which shows he doesn't know dick about the military.
