RE: Buick #1 in Reliability
I will be buying a new car in about a month. I am looking at the Ford Escape or Edge. However, this publicity made me take a look at Buick. I was shocked to find that a beautiful Buick LaCrosse lists for the same price as a Ford Escape. The LaCrosse is quite a bit more luxurious than the Escape. I will go with Ford because I love my local dealer and have had good purchase and service experiences with them. But, if things don't work out, it's nice to know that I can go with a Buick.

I have 3 kids and for sports carpooling need room for even more at times - show me a better vehicle for the money than the Buick Enclave. It not only looks good, it drives very nicely, is incredibly quiet, and has a HUGE, comfortable interior that can seat 7-8 ADULTS comfortably (7 if you go with 2nd row captains chairs, 8 with the second row bench).

Name a better car for this demographic at the same price point.

The MDX has worse styling (thought I know that's subjective), costs more, has less max. seating (7 vs. 8), worse fuel economy (plus requires premium fuel rather than the reg. for the Enclave), less cargo room, and is smaller inside overall, has a 5-speed transmission vs. the Enclave's 6 speed...

Clark Griswold would drive a Buick Enclave if they made modern update to the movie "Vacation." A Buick Enclave is this generation's Family Truckster.

It is good to see that Buick got it's own version of the Pontiac Asstek. Does the Enclaves rear end turn into a tent too? The Asstek has to be one of the ugliest cars ever made.

+ 1.

Own 2 Fords now...95 Mustang and 96 Fusion--both have been quality cars. Only prolblem was the Mustang's e-brake needed replacement but was under warranty.

Next year probably will buy a Escape Hybrid. I am done with foreign cars, I bought new a 96 Honda Civic and 02 Mitsubishi Lancer.

Jap cars are way overrated imo.

If you think the Enclave is even close to being as ugly as an Aztek, while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, you'd be in great disagreement with the majority of the automotive press who've raved about the exterior and interior design of the Enclave. Sales for the Enclave (at least before the recent downturn) have been excellent as well - not so for the Aztek when it was in production.

The demographic buyer of a Buick is over the age of 65 or a member of the church clergy.

Alum is spot on here...

Quote:Buyer demographics can affect ratings as well. The average age for buyers of Buick and the Mercury Grand Marquis is above 60. And older consumers, history shows, do not grade their cars as tough as younger car owners.

I am sure that more people have died in Buick dealerships than any other brand. Cadillac probably ranks second. I am sure that Buick also has the most ramps and wheelchairs on average than all other brands as well.

RE: Buick #1 in Reliability
When I buy my Buick, I will skew the demographics. I am young (relatively), sexy, virile, have a babe under each arm (sometimes), and often put the pedal to the medal. The LaCrosse Supreme has an 8 cylinder, 5.3 L engine that should blow a lot of people off the road. Finally, I will realize my dream come true: blast down the Dan Ryan in my Buick at 110 mph and tailgate and cut off all the construction workers in their testosterone-laden trucks. I'm gonna get big speakers on the Buick and yell out, "Move it, suckah!". All this while enjoying classical music on my 6-speaker premium audio system! 04-rock

Driving a Buick is like driving your living room couch. I just laughed looking out the window. My neighbors parents are in town for a visit. Well into their 70's. They just pulled up into the driveway in a Buick LeSabre. Few hours from now they will pack the grandkids in the backseat and hit the early bird special at Old Country Buffet. After dinner I hope they remember their license plate so they can find their car among the 63 other Buicks and assorted Ford Crown Victorias in the parking lot.

Okay, you did it now! I am going to put oversized whitewalls on my Buick, a real spoiler, dual loud exhaust, and a hood scoop. My Buick will be so loud that it will wake up all the fine folks in my senior complex and cemetery next door. When I drive by your car at Huskie Stadium, watch for me to spit a huge glob of DentuCream in your window!

You know what Im gonna do
Im gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado convertible
Hot pink, with whale skin hubcaps
And all leather cow interior
And big brown baby seal eyes for head lights (yeah)
And Im gonna drive in that baby at 115 miles per hour
Gettin' 1 mile per gallon,
Sucking down Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonalds
In the old fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers
And when Im done sucking down those greeseball burgers
Im gonna wipe my mouth with the American flag
And then Im gonna toss the styrofoam containers right out the side
And there aint a ******* thing anybody can do about it
You know why, because weve got the bombs, thats why
2 words, nuclear ******* weapons, OK?
Russia, Germany, Romania, they can have all the democracy they want
They can have a big democracy cakewalk
Right through the middle of Tiananmen Square
and it wont make a lick of difference
Because weve got the bombs, OK?
John Wayne's not dead, hes frozen, and as soon as we find a cure for cancer
Were gonna thaw out the duke and hes gonna be pretty pissed off
You know why,
Have you ever taken a cold shower, well multiply that by 15 million times
Thats how pissed off the dukes gonna be!
I'm gonna get the Duke, and John Cassavetes,
and Lee Marvin, and Sam Peckinpah, and a case of whiskey,
and drive down to Texas and say.....

Okay, okay...you win! Everything was fine until the part about whether or not I've taken a cold shower. That one hurts.

I'll get the Buick with a big engine and then just plod along at 10 mph like the other old farts. I'll wear a fedora hat and have a cigar hanging from my mouth. Time to start acting my age, I guess.

Seriously, the LaCrosse Supreme comes with a 300 hp 5.3 L 8-cylinder engine. For what?? No one in a Buick ever goes over 55 mph anyway!

They don't even make the LaSabre anymore. Have you driven an Enclave or a Lucerne?
