because there are a bunch of fruit-loop paultards, the people that tune into Alex Jones radio show and read Prison Planet and were subscribers to the Ron Paul newsleters are the Tim McVeigh type true beleivers. NAU, all the whacky Federal Reserve conspiracy theories , 9/11 conpiracy theoriest and so on.
If you really beleived in all these wild conspiracy theories, you could justify doing anything in retaliation. Alex Jones pushes a theory that the Bilderbergers are about to exterminate most of the World's Population among other idiocies.
In alot of ways the Internet has probably made this disease worse.
I'm awaiting for the Bilderbergers and New World Order people to whack Jones and company since they are freely telling the troof

some of the Nut Jobs support some of these type of things, which have nothing to do with "blood sucking jews controlling the world", although they may justify it in their little minds this way.
point is, these types of positions in addition to the whackier stuff. in many cases lead to these types of people. i.e. a profile.
these Alex Jones and by extension Ron Paul(for all the idiocy he is apart of) are the absolute worst Enemies of Liberty, completely marginalizing themselves. We'd be better off if all the nuts were Socialist, they aren't though they share many of the same beleifs.

this is who they are worried about, unfortunately they hold similar "Abolish the IRS" positions at the same time.
If I really beleived things like this, I'd probably be in favor of bombing Govt. Buildings and these 'elite NWO few' in retaltion thinking I'm justified, them trying to Exterminate all but 5 Million People world wide with the US Govt. elite behind it and all.
9/11 Truthers, NWO, Council of Foreign Relations conspiracies, Fed Reserve...'Jews control the world' conspiracies, Illuminati, etc....people that hold to these things tend to also hold some rational positions such as the Fair Tax, though they are coming to the positions from a different POV.

I understand your poing GGniner, the problem is that if officials in Missouri are looking at that end belief to use as a metric for terrorism affinity, or militia membership, then they have a flawed metric! Moreover, they are targetting the best citizens.
That sort of paranoia and overreaction is not what US or local gov'ts should be doing. In fact it puts them on that same plane as terrorists. Unbelievably ironic.
