Just wanted to relay to you guys what I have experienced while starting to assimilate to a new messageboard. I'm hoping to attend the University of South Carolina in the fall so I joined their messageboards on Rivals.com a few days ago. Just my initial reactions...
1) there are TOO many people on the boards. honestly, a topic can go from the top of the front page to the second page in less than 30 minutes. it's annoying. also, at any given time there are 5-10 threads related to the exact same thing.
2) there are idiots EVERYWHERE. since my joining the messageboards, 80% of the posts have to do with one of two things. a) USC should decline their NIT invite, and b) USC baseball is terrible because they are losing a game. I think I have about 30 posts already, at least half of which are explaining to complete idiots why declining an NIT invite makes absolutely no sense. There are people posting "i bet the players don't even want to play in the NIT". Yeah, that makes sense.
3) the messageboard layout sucks. after you reply to a thread, it automatically takes you back to the front page. it's annoying as hell. I like to go back into the same thread immediately to see if anyone else has posted while I was typing my post.
that's all I can really think of for now. I think i joined at an especially ****** time since USC won the SEC-E and then was one and doned out of the SEC tournament. Also they have been to the NIT finals 3 times in the last like 5 years so they're all pretty bitter about going there again. But I'm not sure football season will be much better haha. I'll still be posting here but I just wanted to let everyone know that the NIU community may be small and the boards may be dead sometimes, but it's really not all that bad. We only have a few idiots here and I can always find the threads I want to find
