Closed at 1.65 today. Should I take the money and run? I think that Citibank will be up to $5 by year end. Finally, I pick a winner.

If you think it'll be at $5 by the end of the year why would you sell now? Maybe sell enough to recoup your investment $ and hold on to the rest...see what it does over the next week or two and then reevaluate?

I don't plan on selling yet. Just interesting that the stock is up 60% in a few days.

If I were to cash this in, I would have a capital gain but my 401k value has gone down$10s of thousands go figure that I have to pay taxes but am worth a hell of a lot less

Citibank up over $2 dollars. Finally some good financial news although did not bet the house on this one. Too conservative for that type of play.

I would hope you didn't bet the house. Even if you were an insider you couldn't rely on the market to do what it should do at this point. Safe bets are the only way to go right now.

Also how are you going to compare your 401K to your stock investments? You didn't pay taxes on that 401K to begin with. If you had never invested it you would just have paid taxes at the time.

If you lost money in the stock market you would have been paying less in taxes with a capital loss.

I completely understand and I feel for you, my friend. What are the chances of you finding a job in your area of expertise somewhere in the Chicago area? What are the job prospects?

At NU and NIU, I majored in the arts, and it did not get me too far in this world. I was barely able to eke out a living. While I was working, I went back to school part-time (one course at a time) and changed my career. I am now in an accounting-related field and am doing well. Is a career change an option for you?
