Al Dorado
I want to give a plug to a place bringing some good food to DeKalb.

About a month ago the Al Dorado restaurant opened up next to Happy Wok. On the promise of real tacos al pastor I went- and the menu is definitiely real Mexican- tripa, cabesa and lengua are among your meat options.

Anyway- the tacos are amazing. The tortillas are great, the cilantro and onion are the perfect traditional topping. Tacos al pastor is just too good to pass up. The chorizo tacos are also great.

Other pluses: I love a good torta and the asada torta at its best is the best sandwich in DeKalb.

And...good horchada.

Anyway- I've been encouraging support for this family business. The food is good and so are the prices. Go and enjoy.

RE: Al Dorado
In this life I cannot get enough tacos al pastor.

Pork, cooked gyro-style, stacked on a spit then shaved onto a perfect tortilla. Cilantro and onion on top. So basic, yet so perfect.

I think you're giving yourself a woodie here. Would that be considered climactic gastronomic pre-mastication?? 04-jawdrop

I'm a compulsive masticator.

I do it in public frequently.

That's certainly something to chew on. Did you ever engage in premature mastication? It sure makes it harder to swallow, that's for sure!

I'll have to invite to to lunch with me one day in the back room of the Paperback Grotto. I have my own room and table. The food is sure succulent there! Thank God, the napkins are super-absorbent. However, I never quite understood why they give me a tube of hand cream whenever I eat there. I guess it's just part of their total body corporeal experience.
