Hotels in Vegas
Anybody know of any decent but fairly cheap hotels in Vegas? I am thinking about heading to a conference and "job fair" for GIS professionals. I don't have much money to spend but hopefully this will be a great chance for me to get a job in my field. Not sure how much rooms are(I am going to look this weekend) but something around $100 or less(which I fear is not possible unless you go to some crappy run down place).

RE: Hotels in Vegas
if you check out http://www.vegas.com you can usually find some pretty damn cheap airfare/hotel combos...you can sort them by price and find a hotel that is cheaper but still on or near the strip. i went to vegas without a hotel once and at about 5am decided i should sleep for a few hours and be able to shower so i stayed at the howard johnson by the airport...it was like $70 or something haha. depends when you're there too. i'm going march 19th-23rd and everything is ridiculously expensive.

Look to see if your conference has any special pricing deals with the hotels. I'm going in April for a conference and we get a better rate through the conference than I could find anywhere else.

Also, Hotel prices seem to be much lower this year than in years past. Maybe that'll bode well for your search.

http://www.priceline.com You can name your own price. With only needing one room, you can get a good deal on a 4 star hotel. Problem is you don't get a choice and if you don't go, you still pay for the room. I have used it many times and have never been disappointed.

The Flamingo is a old but it's in a great location and a lot of the rooms have been renovated the last few years. Don't know how the pricing is now, but I always found it to be among the cheapest on the strip. Now, it's not even close to a great hotel anymore, but I think it is a great value.
