I hope Cowboy Junkie and some of the other entertainers find their way back to here. I don't think that I could stand to not be entertained for one single day! ;-)

I went over their for some fun, I find it funny to read some of thoughs posts. Good Old "eldermars" seems to be having fun with his "You love us because you want to be us" post. But the funny one are: "ESPNU won't show WAC games" and "Finally...some details on WAC TV...finally...".

"ESPNU won't show WAC games" --- It is nice to see some of the WAC fans a starting to see the light, with ESPN. But some still think they will be able to get bank on their next contract with ESPN. I just wonder what they would be happy with? Their last contract was for more or less $300,000 a year and this current contract is worth $1 million a year. So what will make them happy? ESPN, IMO has already tipped their hand with the ACC deal ($85 million a year) and next to come will be the Big East deal (which IMO will be aleast twice what the MWC contract is). After the MWC said no thanks to ESPN's deal, didn't the Pac 10 sign some kind of deal with them. But just look at West BC$ conferences (Big 12 and Pac 10) both have done deals with FSN and TBS, because IMO they are not getting the same type money and love from ESPN as the Eastren BC$ conferences do. IMO, the best the WAC will ever get out of ESPN will be $2 million a year.

"Finally...some details on WAC TV...finally..." --- The WAC fans have been banging on us MWC fans about mtn only being shown on the internet. Now we have deal will Comcast, so they claim mtn is only in 3 states..... ect..... Yet they seem to be pretty giddy about their WAC TV (Internet Stream).

Yes you are all so funny, however a little misleading as well. I would like to say for those who compare the MWC/WAC TV contracts, you are comparing apples to oranges. The $82 million the MWC has is for local, regional and national coverage, whereas the WAC contract is for National only. (There are a few games on ESPN+, but the contract is for essentially national TV.) The WAC is still able to sign local TV agreements, which nearly every school (or maybe every school) has done while the MWC cannot do this. The ESPN contract plus the local TV contract actually ups the value some, (a lot in Hawaii's case.) Also though the mtn is a decent idea, many WAC schools still get the gravy games on free local TV. BTW the games on ESPNU were the new details the WAC was waiting for, nothing major. It just didn't work out with that.

You do make more money on yours, though not as much as some of you are saying AND the MWC is taking a huge risk.

Anyways that is just my .02 on the matter.

As far as the risk goes, I think we are brave as a conference to strike out the way we did. If it flops, which I doubt, we can always go back to some other TV arrangements. Someone will want us.

I do agree with your point on the local TV arrangements being a good thing sometimes though. When we were in CUSA and the contract was with ESPN somehow a lot of our games ended up on free TV in the DFW area only. As it is now, there will be no free TV for any MWC games. I personally think that TV and the internet should both be free for anyone who wants to use them. That's why we put up with advertising. In the early days of cable and satellite those entities would advertise that they had ad free uninterrupted programs. Now you get to pay and get to watch a bunch of ads also. Ahhhh....there is nothing like good old American greed!
