Should he stay or should he go?

I'll give my opinion later.

Depends on what he does this "Offseason" for football.

If he can secure another GURANTEED bowl or lock up the 3 side deals hes done I say fair enough he can stay.

If nothing gets done, boot to the curb.

i used to say keep him because i honestly didnt think the belt could get much better from a contacts perspective - but the way they TOTALLY blew those secondary tie-in deals, at this point i say boot him for anyone who has the ablitity to read and understand the terms of a contract. Unless he locks down another "guaranteed" bowl slot - i say give him the boot.

After the fiasco with the bowl agreements, IMHO he should go. The MAC is looking for a new Commish . . . 05-stirthepot

Well, in all fairness, IMHO he has done a pretty good job with what he had to work with. Strategically, he has assisted in the growth of the reputation of the conference. I say keep him around with a mandate that within the next two years he has to secure another direct bowl tie-in, and a tv agreement via a joint venutre between the SBC, Cox Sports Television, and CSS.

that's setting the bar a bit low don't you think? We had better have a tv deal with ESPN, forget CSS. Also, we need a second tie-in for THIS COMING SEASON. Don't put off tomorow what you can accomplish today.

RE: Wright Waters
Get the SBC another bowl or bowls, and he should stay. If he doesn't get another bowl by next season, he needs to pack. That's all I'm concerned about ATM. Maybe some more ESPN deals would be nice, but that might be asking too much.

That's not setting the bar too low (the tv deal). Such a joint venture would allow for local broadcast of SBC games on non-exclusive channels (such as ESPNU). This would increase the branding of the respective teams in the conference, as well as revenue. This will also leave the SBC open to broadcast national games via ESPN whenever ESPN wants to broadcast such games. For a small regional conference that is still building its reputation and brand, this deal would be great.

RE: Wright Waters
look, if the MAC can work out a deal to air a game every thursday, the Sun Belt should be able to get a deal worked up to air our games on Tuesday nights. We are a better conference, it just seems we have poorer leadership.

RE: Wright Waters
I have been in favor of Waters leaving before we even came into this conference...ie. the "low hanging fruit" comment. If there is even a remote possibilty that you may be forced to take a school, then you shouldn't have a bad comment about them as a commishioner. Actually as a commishoner you shouldn't ever have a bad thing to say about a school outside of you conference. Might need to call in a favor to help solve a scheduling problem later. The lone exception to this I can think of is when a school outside of the conference publicly says that it is above one of the schools in your conference...an immediate resolution should be passed agreeing no conference schools will play that school. No cahones. When something of this nature is said publicly, it ususally applies to the whole conference. Like it or not, we are all tied together.

I thought it was rather funny when he called WKU fans (and MTSU probably) "pseudo fans" because we were upset about the tournament being in Hot Springs instead of Nashville.

What is it about Wright Waters that upsets people? I'm just asking because I guess I haven't been around long enough to know much about this guy, but I'm just curious...

What has he done (not done) to deserve the boot? What would he have to do to get back in good graces (if possible)?

RE: Wright Waters
A lot of things, but for starters: terrible negotiating on TV contracts and disregard for Sun Belt basketball.
