Just tuned in, the white helmets do look very sharp--but why the white helmets? Has USF ever worn white helmets before? Just curious as to the fashion switch, but they do look good.

The fans left early. USF fans are notorious for arriving late and leaving early, especially with game in hand.

Being an SU fan I was watching SU take it to Memphis in BB. What little of the USF-Memphis game I saw there was no reason why Memphis should have even been in a bowl game. USF's speed and athletic players were far better then Memphis. This bowl underlines the Big East bowl issues you have "BCS" teams playing weaker non "BCS" teams in the International & St. Pete bowls. The talent of a USF,Rutgers,Uconn etc is far superior to a 8/7/6 win CUSA/MAC/Sunbelt team.

Bad day for Memphis. They lose a bowl game and a hoops game at the same time, on different networks.

Way to go USF. A fine start for Big East football in their bowl games.

Levitt made a classy move by taking Grothe out, and letting the senior quarterback get some playing time in a bowl game to finish his career at South Florida. [/align]

Agree, don't think any BE team would have lost this game.

Hopefully the St Pete bowl will be upgraded to include a bcs opponent after this go around.

To be honest I would have preffered if Arizona the Pac 10 #5/6 were in the St. Pete game. A USF-UA game would be pretty sweet

The announcer said that's the first time USF has worn white helmets. Don't know why they did it, but if they stick with them it might piss off WVU fans for looking like Marshall. 03-lmfao

BTW - props on the win USF! 04-cheers

Attendance = 25,205 (25,200 South Florida fans, and 5 Memphis fans).

At least the game achieved the 25,000 minimum.

It was a pathetic showing IMO, but it wasnt that bad. The section that was about 50 yards away from the field wasnt available for purchase, and outside of that and some of the area behind the end zones near the dugout everything was mostly filled, even the upper deck in midfield was mostly filled. Without making too many excuses, there was absolutely no advertising for this game, and with all due respect to memphis and the st pete bowl i think most people viewed this as an extension of the regular season against a subpar opponent in a season that was already lost. Honestly if we were playing someone like Rutgers in the trop it probly would of sold out. There was just no excitement for this game. I dont want this to be taken as an insult to memphis, i think its more of a lack of respect towards this bowl game

25k for a team that averaged 50k is pathetic though i agree.

I dont know how it came out on tv, but from inside the student section (front row 02-13-banana) it felt like a loud group. I didnt notice much of a difference between this student section and a regular one at rayjay outside of it being a bit smaller.

Anyways.

Big East 1-0

lets run the table guys!!

24,000 USF fans, 1,000 Memphis fans. Might be poor, but it was still 24,000 USF fans. If there was an opponent that brought any fans at all would have sold out. Should have sold out anyway, oh well.

It's great for special occasion games, but I still like the all green unis with gold helmets. I like your gold helmets.

I liked the helmet as a change of pace. It took some getting used to though. I kept looking for the green helmets early.

It does kind of look like Marshall's helmet. Bugsy's got that much right. But it doesn't effect me one way or the other. The Mountaineer opinions you should be worried about are the Mountaineers on the field. My opinion won't effect the outcome of the games. But theirs will...

Really disappointed in the turnout from Memphis. I know it had a basketball game against Syracuse, but didn't the Memphis AD talk extensively about the Big East conference a few days ago?

Oh one more thing. When I was heading to my section before the game, i passed by a man wearing West Virginia gear + a USF hat. Huge props for the mountaineer coming out to support the big east. I was planning to do the same for whatever big east team was in the St Pete bowl this year.

UC has had its attendance problems when it has not been so good as well.

USF fans, I must say I loved the new helmets....And as for the game, where were the UM fans? They have a bowl game in Tampa and no one shows?
