RE: OT Pitt posters talking about Memphis and their AD

Thats a great idea and I never thought of it. Most likely would never happen though. I think adding UMass as a Basketball only then helping them make the jump to 1A and then to the Big East(football) the same route as UConn would be ideal.
Another thing with the Bills moving to Toronto, Buffalo just might be a perfect fit. I know everyone(including myself) has dogged the Bulls but their fan base would sky rocket because it is a football town and without the Bills fans would go to the 2nd best option. Does that mean they will compete, no. Buffalo Bills fanbase has always been solid as a have a few friends from Buffalo. The Bulls did send alot of fans to Pittsburgh when they played this season.
Again I don't see either happening. And on top of that I don't see any of this happening. Memphis, ECU, Buffalo, Temple, UCF, UMass, Deleware, Notre Dame, Maryland, PSU, Boston College will not be conference mates anytime in the short term and possibly long term so we are stuck with who we have as conference mates. So as much as I hate to say it status quo is the way to go right now, like it or not.

Realistic 12 all sports league is probably:
Uconn
Syracuse
Temple
Rutgers
Pitt
WV
Cincy
Lville
Memphis
ECar
SfL
Cfl
Its a very good league but i do think you lose some eastern identity and morph into an cusa on steroids type situation rather than a "big east" league...if the football school's want to keep the eastern feel, they need to go to the 9-3 non football concept if they split from the catholic hoop school's...i don't even think adding temple for all sports to the 8 big east football school's, than going with the state flagship school's of Umass, uri, and Udel is a bad idea, they all would develop over time and with those markets and type of school's, it would be a bcs league ...i do think cherry picking some catholic hoops school's is wrong though...Yet, the problem is there are too many different viewpoints within the big east school's on what should happen that nothing happens.

Losing that would bring them in the publics eye to same level as the A-10 schools, not bad but certaintly a step below what the Big East is viewed as. It is the footbal's BCS tag that brings that extra power to those schools
I always try to tread lightly the infrequent times I post on others' boards. But the above is the BEST summary I have ever read about the advantages that the Big East football members provide those without football.
Marquette, G'town and Villanova bring a LOT to the table for you guys. But the BCS tag provides a label of undisputed clout that they would not necessarily have long term away from the football schools. If/when you guys split, the separation of publicity will be slow. But incrementally, time would definitely be on the football schools' side.
