Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel had a big day as the Scarlet Knights got a big win at Pittsburgh.

Each week during the season, readers can select their pick for USA TODAY's Player of the Week. Choices will be made available on Sunday night. The fan vote will comprise one-third of the award with one vote each also going to college football editor Erick Smith and Gannett News columnist Mike Lopresti.

Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel threw for six touchdowns against No. 20 Pittsburgh to win this week's USA TODAY's Player of the Week honor. The senior made the most of his limited throws, completing 14 of 21 passes for 361 yards to help the Scarlet Knights beat the Panthers 54-34.Teel captured the award with the support of the fan voting and college football editor Erick Smith. Gannett News Service columnist Mike Lopresti sided with Penn State defensive back Mark Rubin.
